Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary and were blown away by our evening-- I had read the reviews before so was curious about the food, but greatly enjoyed our mussels, boeuf bourguignon and pork tenderloin. We were immediately congratulated on our anniversary and given complimentary champagne, which was a thoughtful touch to start our night. The service was great and the space is absolutely beautiful. Between the food, drinks, service and space it felt like we had left DC for the night. The timing of the food and drinks was perfect, and our waiter Wiely was fantastic. The general manager stopped by to congratulate us on our anniversary/check in on the service, and at the end of the night presented us with a complimentary book to commemorate the evening. Overall, this restaurant is a perfect date night and we will absolutely come back!

Steak was cooked really well with not a lot of butter. The vegetables were delicious and well seasoned. The black sesame crème brûlée was the best.

I chose this restaurant based upon my experiences at the NYC location. Service was, as usual, excellent however, there was no maitre’d at the entrance and none waited us at the top of the stairs, they were at the bar. They were at their station upon our departure engrossed in their conversation and never acknowledged our presence. Food was great but not excellent and while the coq au vin and salade nicoise were hearty portions, my entree, St Jacques Rotie consisted of 3 (perfectly cooked) scallops atop what was supposed to be squash purée and about 1/8c of lentils. It was very good but I did leave hungry. Normally I have leftovers everywhere I eat out. I would have considered this dish to be an appetizer in portion although at $42 it was overpriced. Wine list was varied and excellent but the price point for a Pic Poul was a bit steep. There was a party going on upstairs so it was noisier than I would think normal at the time we dined. The main dining area has a very high ceiling and it is hard to hear in there but I believe there are less noisy areas to sit in. The decor is lovely with much to look at. We enjoyed ourselves and will probably come back again to try something else on the menu.

It was such a beautiful experience. The quality of food, the service, and the ambience was incredible. I want to do a special thanks to Ronald whose service cannot be topped. If you dine here and are lucky enough to be served by him, definitely order what he recommends; he knows what he’s talking about. I also want to do a special thanks to Mufti whose hospitality was beyond words. An incredible experience with incredible people; highly recommended.
