Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

We went there for our 43rd Anniversary! Other than a more intimate seating, everything was absolutely FANTASTIC. Of all the restaurants we have been in DC, this has to be the best in all categories.

Very, very poor service. We waited for hours and had to flag down other waiters to get pretty much anything.

Impressive venue in terms of design and layout. Unfortunately maybe too impressive compared to the quality of service and food. When ordering a $60 entree you would expect it to be cooked well. I ordered a medium rare ribeye and it came out well done. I sent it back and by the time it came back my table had finished eating. The new steak was cooked better but incredibly over salted and they had not changed out the side dishes which were now cold. Drink service was also incredibly slow. Took 30 minutes for us to get our first round of wine and had to ask several times for cutlery to eat our meal as it had been taken during clearing of the first course. With all of this, the server and section manager did not apologize or offer anything to help make up this poor service on a $1000 bill for our party. I’d suggest going for a quick drink or off-peak hours. They do not have quality control or process down.

We have eaten at one of the NYC locations three times and this is our first time at the DC one. The venue is beautiful. The service and food were quite good. But if you want a higher grade steak you can’t get it with fries. Only the steak frites allows for fries and you are stuck with mashed potatoes if you want a rib eye. That was not our experience in NYC or anywhere else where we have had steak. So my spouse had to settle for the steak frites when he wanted the rib eye.

The physical location of the restaurant was impressive. Sweeping, ornate ceiling, beautiful entry way and bar, as well as excellent service. Drinks at the bar were also expectedly prepared. My partner and I were there for our anniversary. Sadly, we were disappointed by the quality of the food. We started strong on the appetizers with a very fresh seafood salad, sort of a French ceviche. Oysters were also very good quality and nice variety. For our main we ordered a tomato salad to share and a steak frites, also to share. The tomatoes were unimpressive. A few slices were bright red, and a few were bland and not ripe enough. When you order a tomato salad, the expectation is incredibly tasty, mouth watering tomatoes. These were just blah. Second, the steak in the steak frites was quite fatty, a lot of grizzle and and not at all a nice lean piece of meat. Also, we asked for medium and it came back mooing, with just the edges cooked. French fries were good. Disappointed!

This is a relatively new restaurant and needs to smooth out some rough edges and wait staff needs more experience. However, the menu is great and the interior of the restaurant is spectacular.

My husband and I were celebrating our two year wedding anniversary and our whole experience was just as good as our first time at the Boucherie in NY where we had our honey moon. This location is definitely “GRANDE” the food is on point. Especially the dessert. Pomme frites were a bit underwhelming as I really thought they’d bring me back to living and visits in France! But cest la vie! Overall it was an excellent experience!

My family had a wonderful dinner celebrating a 50th birthday here. Our server, Fahad, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Even my teenage son commented that he seemed like a nice person! The food was fantastic - my husband said it was the best steak he has ever had. The ambience is top notch - absolutely beautiful architectural and interior design details. Really classy place with great service!
