Housed in Chicago’s Belle Époque building, the unique Art Nouveau-inspired space honors the iconic building’s legacy while providing guests with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere and menu. La Grande Boucherie blends the ambiance of an indulgent steakhouse with a refined Parisian brasserie charm, and fuses traditional French cuisine with Chicago’s River North culinary heritage. The two-story restaurant boasts custom curved stained-glass windows overlooking the bustling streets of Chicago. The interior features custom mosaic marble floors, authentic fixtures, and a racetrack bar sourced from France. Guests can lean into the view and take in all that Chicago has to offer.

Grand birthday lunch at La Grande Boucherie! Remarkable food gras with beautiful presentation Beet salad delivered with a delicious filo wrapped pear and cheese delight atop the golden and red beets. Mussels that are so tender and flavorful. And bread that brings back memories of Paris bakeries. Thank you to the chefs and service teams for a memorable meal.

Service was poor. Arrived early and was told to not come back until the exact time of the reservation. Come back exactly on time and had to wait 29mins. During the wait, we tried to order wine at the bar but was warned the bottle would take time to retrieve and we should wait to be seated. When we were seated we ordered wine. 15mins later, wine was sold out. Ordered diner and a different bottle of wine. Food shows up but no wine. Halfway through dinner, wine shows up but cork breaks and 4 people try to fix the cork. We finish dinner and still no wine. We let them know not to worry about the wine and get/pay for the full bill. As we leave manager flags us down and gives us a coupon for a free meal “next time”.

Review for La Grande Boucherie, Chicago La Grande Boucherie was fantastic! The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, with a Parisian vibe that makes it special. The staff was phenomenal, attentive to every detail and making sure we had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the filet, New York strip, lobster bisque, mushrooms, mac and cheese, and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was our favorite—so fresh and flavorful! We finished with the profiteroles, a perfect dessert. Great food, amazing service, and a beautiful setting—highly recommend!

The food was amazing. My husband, who will not eat a steak if it isn't well done, was head over heals with his. We had the seafood tower, steak tartar, French onion soup, and Caesar salad as beginners. All were amazing. Everyone had steaks for dinner and several bottles of wine. One had to be disposed of due to it being sour. We had the sommelier try it as well, and he agreed. Replaced with another bottle, and it was delicious. Dessert was the basque cheesecake, which compares to the ones we actually have eaten in the basque region of France. It is a must go when we are in town again. We will be returning.

Great food, great service, and nice place. It was my wife’s 31st birthday so I expected some type of simple dessert from the restaurant for this occasion, which didn’t happen.

Very hospitable service throughout. Loud music made it harder to talk to each other despite being on second floor. Steaks were done perfectly. Fries came out cold, but were quickly replaced. Fair wine list - authentically French. Would recommend but don’t “wow” us
