Experience modern, coastal Italian cuisine at Fort Lauderdale's newest hot spot, La Fuga. Chef Michael Mayer infuses local South Florida flavors with classic Italian staples to create a fusion of crave-worthy, contemporary dishes.

La Fuga, (Italian for "the escape,") is nestled in the heart of the Kimpton Shorebreak, named in homage to the location’s historic beginnings. The newly renovated Kimpton Shorebreak occupies a unique space in Fort Lauderdale, originally opened as The Escape Hotel in 1949.

La Fuga pays tribute to it's origin story in name and also in atmosphere. Featuring midcentury design, and a laid-back vibe, the indoor-outdoor dining room includes views of the hotel's scenic courtyard and provides access to a rooftop pool overlooking Fort Lauderdale’s intercoastal.

The food was not good and severely overpriced . The lobster ravioli tasted like it was frozen . The food was over done with spices to mask the taste. For how much we spent and how horrible the quality was, I do not recommend. It was the worst bowl of pasta I’ve ever had. The Cozze smelled like bad fish, I couldn’t even eat it. Do not waste your money .

Always amazing from the service, to the food, to the atmosphere. Because of the rain, it did get very busy inside, but it made it fun and energetic. The La Fuga Spritz was amazing and the bruschetta was probably the best I’ve ever had.

I always liked this place even when it first opened. Since then that have grown into a very, very nice restaurant. Service is great, food is very good and if you eat outside it is very quiet.

My friends and I had a great time at La Fuga. The food overall was really great, the meal was very high quality and all the ingredients felt fresh. We had both some seafood and pasta. The seafood was all very delicious and could tell that it was fresh. Same with the pasta, having the homemade pasta made a huge difference. Desert as well, the homemade gelato was delicious! Overall the experience was really good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality meal in the area.

I have always been cautious about booking hotel restaurants but after reading the good reviews decided to give it a try. Firstly, this is not fine dining or even upscale dining. La Funga is essentially a casual resort cafe. The decor is totally uninspiring - mostly everything brown including the wood tables and rather uncomfortable chairs. There is a patio next to the hotel pool and you can eat there with kids splashing a few feet away from you. There are plastic chairs there so I'm sure the dress code is just fine for swimsuits. The service was attentive and efficient, but the food nothing special. I had the swordfish (no doubt frozen) with a few potatoes and my wife had an acceptable pasta dish- which was somewhat bland. There is a sort of stage on which two musicians were making not so great music! It could be so much better, and we came away thinking a professional restaurant designer could change the entire ambience instead of the Starbucks theme that it currently has. Would not hurry back.

Not as nice as the pictures online appear. Great live jazz singer, but not enough to overcome everything else. Very expensive for what you get. Marinara sauce on my plate tasted like it was warmed from a can. Not what I would expect for $28.
