We booked a table and arrived early to have a drink at the bar. We liked our bartender, Max, and the vibe at the bar so we decided to stay put for dinner. Max was patient (it was early so bar was not too busy) and helped us with our selections. We enjoyed it.

The sushi was soooo freaking good! The best I have had in a very long time and we love our sushi. I was shocked at how affordable as well. The space is absolutely beautiful. The drinks on the other hand could use some work. The lychee martini tasted like lemonade and the black garlic manhattan... why?

Server’s knowledge of the menu and origin of the dish and different fish prepared was educational as well as surprising. How fresh some of the fish are and from where in the world. White fish shipped on ice caught within days from Japan. Japan to the plate within a few days, even hours was impressive. The flavor and texture showed truth behind their high standards. The drinks were phenomenal and the ambience was unlike any other. The place is hidden off the street down an outdoor corridor stairway in a stone courtyard. Walking in, felt like the place was chiseled into the side of a cliff with the dim lighting and stone manor walls. Definitely my favorite sushi restaurant I have ever been to and one of the best places for a date night in D.C.

Very high expectations based on reviews. Shocked by the high price and unfortunately quality did not match the cost. Many of the dishes were drowned in sauce/mayonnaise and too much wasabi. Place is beautiful but not authentic. Additionally, when paying such high prices I would expect better service. After we finished our main course and before dessert came, our table was filthy with crumbs and no one bothered to wipe it. If you want a cool, hip place to hang and you have a lot of expendable income-this is the spot. If you are a foodie-there are better choices in DC

We had an amazing dinner at Kyojin last night to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Jessica was our server and she took us on a wonderful tour of the menu. The food and drinks were delicious and it was a perfect celebration. Looking forward to coming again!
