Our mission is to provide pure, plant-powered meals that are good for your body. Our approach is knowledgeable, playful, and engaging. We offer a unique opportunity to experience a different way of eating vegetables and discover new flavours and textures. Talented chefs behind Food For Friends restaurant (established in 1981 as Brighton’s first vegetarian restaurant), Botanique (Hove’s exclusive plant based restaurant) and Wolfox Coffee have put together their experience and knowledge to bring you this new Asian inspired plant based concept.

The result is a creative and colourful menu which shows organic plant-based food can lead to surprising, healthy and mindful new eating experiences. We believe in an upgraded casual dining experience in beautiful light-filled spaces dedicated to natural plant-based food and organic wines.

Let us take your occasion to the next level with our signature service. A private dining room with relaxed yet elegant setting inspired by a Japanese washitsu design. Accommodating up to 40 people for a seated lunch or dinner. The room is suitable for birthdays, weddings or anniversary celebrations and corporate events such as business breakfast, lunches or dinner, or offers the perfect venue for networking events and parties. Head Chef Reuben Waller creates seasonal menus especially for your event. The room comes with fresh flowers, candles, and place cards on requests.

Very sadly on arrival we were informed there was a medical problem in the kitchen & the chef had gone to hospital. Half an hour later after ordering drinks we were told we could not be accommodated. Which would be fine if someone had phoned us before setting off for the restaurant, (the chef had been taken to hospital a couple of hours before we arrived with cardiac arrest), or at worst when we arrived rather than wait until it is almost impossible to get another booking elsewhere as kitchens were closing. All very sad and the waitress was visibly distressed & unfortunately out of her depth. So I cannot comment on the food

We have eaten here 5 times and usually on our birthdays. We have always been given a free glass of prosecco to celebrate which has been great. This time we didn't get them. The staff were very inexperienced and didn't know the difference between wasabi and watercress salsa. I was disappointed that we had to keep asking for extra soya sauce and wasabi. There was the tiniest bit of ginger too. When we ordered saki, it came with one saki cup and two large glasses. They had run out of saki cups! We had to share one as there was no way we were going to use the tumblers. I know this may all seem insignificant, but it has really gone down hill. The service wasn't great. The only experienced person was the cocktail maker. Unfortunately the cocktail menu has also changed for the worst. Moan, moan, moan. That said, the food is still delicious and made up for everything else. Food is what we were there for, so we will go again, but with lower expectations for the service, which is a shame.

Kusaki is a stunning restaurant; its details and aesthetic is meticulously curated. The most vital aspect is that the menu items are incredible, each course ramps up in quality. Definitely a culinary experience reserved for special occasions.

Had a great evening. Food was even more delicious than our last visit. Would highly recommend it! Shame they’d run out if one dessert, but great they were able to adapt it.

Thank you very much for a magical and great experience. Staff members Are polite, smiley, and very welcoming. I wasn’t sure what to order and they provided me with the best suggestions. We came to celebrate my fiancé’s 40th birthday and we couldn’t choose better restaurant. We will be back hundred percent as our experience was absolutely incredible. Thank you very much for such a pleasant evening.

Outstanding food and cocktails. It was lovely sitting at the bar by the window and having a really leisurely meal on a Thursday night with friends. Will look forward to eating here again.

Food was amazing and it arrived quick. Probably the best sushi I had. Sadly, the staff wasn’t very approachable or smiley. On arrival we were not taken to our table which you would expect in a restaurant. I felt like the girl was looking down on us every time she approached the table, which wasn’t very pleasant. Also, the cleanness of the toilet was questionable- looked like the sink was not cleaned for ages, floor was dirty and the mirrors were covered in dust. Overall, not the best experience despite the delicious food.

Unfortunately my experience with food was not good: the crackers were incredibly oily and the fried rice bowl was a box mixture of ingredients with no identity. The experience was also lessened by the fact that they served all the dishes we ordered all together at the same time, and we kind of had to eat faster than we wanted. They told us that the the food was going to be served as it became available but we didn’t expect that meant all at the same time.

Delicious refined Japanese food, great lunchtime value bento. Highlights were the tofu and also the massumum curry.
