Our mission is to provide pure, plant-powered meals that are good for your body. Our approach is knowledgeable, playful, and engaging. We offer a unique opportunity to experience a different way of eating vegetables and discover new flavours and textures. Talented chefs behind Food For Friends restaurant (established in 1981 as Brighton’s first vegetarian restaurant), Botanique (Hove’s exclusive plant based restaurant) and Wolfox Coffee have put together their experience and knowledge to bring you this new Asian inspired plant based concept.

The result is a creative and colourful menu which shows organic plant-based food can lead to surprising, healthy and mindful new eating experiences. We believe in an upgraded casual dining experience in beautiful light-filled spaces dedicated to natural plant-based food and organic wines.

Let us take your occasion to the next level with our signature service. A private dining room with relaxed yet elegant setting inspired by a Japanese washitsu design. Accommodating up to 40 people for a seated lunch or dinner. The room is suitable for birthdays, weddings or anniversary celebrations and corporate events such as business breakfast, lunches or dinner, or offers the perfect venue for networking events and parties. Head Chef Reuben Waller creates seasonal menus especially for your event. The room comes with fresh flowers, candles, and place cards on requests.

Unfortunately my experience with food was not good: the crackers were incredibly oily and the fried rice bowl was a box mixture of ingredients with no identity. The experience was also lessened by the fact that they served all the dishes we ordered all together at the same time, and we kind of had to eat faster than we wanted. They told us that the the food was going to be served as it became available but we didn’t expect that meant all at the same time.

Delicious refined Japanese food, great lunchtime value bento. Highlights were the tofu and also the massumum curry.

I booked a table for my wife's 60th birthday meal and wasn't disappointed! Friendly staff and exquisite food. The service was impeccable, and they gave my wife a glass of complimentary bubbles for her birthday. The restaurant is japandy in style and light and airy. I'd definitely recommend to Vegans and meat eaters alike.

We’ve been fans of kusaki since you opened. Food consistently tasty imaginative and good value for a ‘high end’ style of restaurant. I asked for a knife as it was impossible to transfer chewy shiitake mushrooms from Bowl to mouth without making a mess. Chopsticks were not helpful for this particular dish! But so good. Not a drop of food left ❤️

Fantastic restaurant! Amazing attentive staff who made us feel very special and the food was incredible! I don’t usually favour vegan food or vegetables for that matter but I found the food to be better than any meat dish I have had! And my vegan friend said it’s the best vegan food she’s tried. Beautiful decor and ambience, just overall amazing and would 100% recommend!

We ordered the sushi sharing platter and were amazed by the banquet that followed! Beautifully presented and delicious! 100% recommend this restaurant.

This place has a beautiful aesthetic and friendly staff but the food was a bit of a let down and generally lacking in flavour. The sushi was bland with under seasoned rice, the gyoza were soggy, kaarage mushrooms needed some salt, sweetcorn fritters were dense and stodgy…you get the idea. Really wanted to love this place but couldn’t. Would return for drinks and nibbles maybe but not sure I’d want to eat here again :(

Food was good, but drinks service very poor. For the second consecutive visit, I ordered a glass of wine when the food arrived (having had a cocktail whilst choosing) only for it not to have arrived by the time we had finished eating. Seems that the wine order joins the queue for the same staff member making cocktails - why not let your serving staff pout the wine when it is ordered>!
