Kuni’s a long time Japanese Cuisine Restaurant located in the heart of Waipahu. Local favorites include Barbecue Tofu (made with a special sauce grilled to perfection and served on a sizzling Hot plate). Love their Sukiyaki wether it’s Beef, Pork, or Chicken. Lots of good fresh ingredients prepared with care, delightfully delicious.

50% off sizzling steak platter (Wednesday only) was great deal. Host also comped a small bowl of ahi poke...so Ono. Will definitely visit on Wednesday again!!!

Reservations with a possible $25 per person charge seemed excessive!! We were asked to move tables which was ok I guess. The serve was knowledgeable because it was our first time here we had questions. The menu setup was ok but I would have changed the pictures to reflect the premium items being noted under the pictures and not just listed on the bottom like the premium cost also listed next to the pictures. Most of the premium items were pictured kind of miss leading. The food came quickly and everything tasted pretty good just the Mahi tempura was not a favorite. We will probably go back again to try different things but probably take our chances by calling or trying to walk in. Not use open table With the $25 fee for No Show

This is a nice little quaint restaurant/bar in Waipahu. First time to try the restaurant side, had gone there for the bar before. The only thing is, when I first tasted the broth for the Udon Noodles, it smelled/tasted like soap. Not sure if it's the combination of the different meats in the broth or the soup scoop just got washed and not rinsed enough. Hmmm...other than that, service was good, and the place is nice.

I LOVE that we were able to reserve a table for Kuni's. A lot of places don't allow reservations, especially on days that they have a special going on. However, due to the special, it was very busy. We did walk right in and was seated right away (due to the reservation). But it was a bit loud for my taste. It may be ok for others, but there were load booths next to us. I do wish that there were larger tables - where our party of 5 could actually sit together. 2 in our party sat across the way from us in a smaller booth - and due to the noise, we couldn't carry a normal conversation with them. BUT, the food was good, the service was fast - once we put in our order, and it was all reasonably priced.

Excellent food and service. I think we had about 4 servers check on us! The older gentleman played funny tricks on us. Ordered miso butter fish, ahi sashimi, shrimp tempura and chicken katsu. It was all great. First time here but not the last!!
