Kumiko is a Japanese Dining Bar (ダイニングバー)* where food and drink are treated with equal reverence. Located in Chicago’s West Loop, Kumiko boasts incredible cocktails and spirits with exquisite food to pair.

Owner and bartender Julia Momosé blends Japanese ingredients and techniques to create an elevated menu of beverages and bites.

Whether you come to savor some of Japan’s finest saké or walk in for a lovely dinner with friends, Kumiko welcomes you with warmth and gratitude.

Our seasonal tasting menu is rooted in Japanese ingredients, melding the cross-cultural experiences and techniques of our Chef team Alex Ching and Josh Mummert with the guidance of Creative Director Julia Momose. We highlight the best of the season and curate the experience further with a selection of optional beverage pairings. Gluten Free and Pescatarian menus are available, but we are unfortunately unable to accommodate any other dietary restrictions. We kindly ask for more than 24 hours notice to make these accommodations, and that you include any restrictions in your reservation notes at the time of booking. Such a beautifully curated menu. You can feel the love and time spent building each item and selecting the perfect vessel to serve. Every single item was wonderful!

We went to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. The drinks were phenomenal, very thoughtfully crafted definitely worth the visit. The food was good but it was definitely rather expensive. If I were to go back I would just do drinks here and plan my meal somewhere else. The staff were lovely and signed cards for our events.

A very memorable experience. Everything was so carefully and delicately prepared and each dish and drink was better than the last. highly recommend

Staff was so attentive and kind. We only went for drinks and apps but plan to go for dinner next time. The cocktails were delicious. I can't call the pours "generous," but delicious nonetheless

The work they're doing is Kumiko is world class. Worth the wait, worth the hype, worth the price it's just an exceptional experience. I'd go every week if I lived in Chicago.

Still stands as my favorite bar in the city however quality has decreased since it’s initial opening and its become a bit more evident. It was our anniversary, my partners first time visiting. Our server didn’t mention it nor did it matter whatsoever which was bizarre considering I’ve come for birthday’s, etc, and was treated so warmly before. Not even a card like they used to do was given (RIP). The staff also explained the first cocktail to my partner, who is a lover of spirits, then didn’t bother with any of the drinks following. The staff was very attentive to the wealthy man on our left but we felt service faltered for us because of this. It was pretty disappointing to see that disparity as someone in the industry who used to come here frequently and hadnt been back in over a year + speaks to highly of this place to everyone who asks where to drink in the city.
