A much loved institution returns to the Sorrento foreshore. On the site of the storied Beer Garden & Dining Room is the new Koonya Hotel - complete with Public Bar, Lounge Bar, Bistro, Private Dining and Beer Garden. Lovely setting, outdoor table with ocean view. Cushions provided after we chose table as we booked for opening time. Greeting on arrival luke warm, underwhelming. Food average for inflated prices. Six diners ordered: 2 x Parma - chicken dry and chewy, sauce light and fresh, too much cheese, insipid salad, chips ok but like supermarket oven chips and high price tag $34.50! Bangers and mash - tasty but only one sausage so not bangers plural $34.50!! Fish and chips - one small piece of fish oily and wilted piece of cos lettuce and oven chips again. $34.50! Burger x 2 - average for price, gherkin relish a revelation and a highlight. $29.50!! Pulled pork sliders good. $24.50 for 2 Overall setting great, food very average with high price tag for standard pub fare, service lackadaisical.

Midweek very quiet. Manager Julian greeted us warmly. Food took a little while to arrive and was delicious when it did. Wine selection very nice too. Local wines too which is a plus. Dessert a little dry and Julian took note. We’ll b back.

I ate the best ribs at this restaurant, the sauce was delicious. The staff were very nice and accommodating. It was a great restaurant for a pleasant night out with friends.

The most underrated pub in Sorrento. Hidden gem with unbelievable water views and cosy atmosphere.

Lots of potential however food lacks considering the $$$. For the price you pay, you’d expect to get a better quality meal. We ordered a chicken burger for example - the bun was a cheap Bakers delight like-roll which was very disappointing - you would be after a brioche bun for the price. With more attention to detail and higher quality selections, I think eventually they will do great however at this stage, we won’t be back. I hope this feedback is taken constructively as the ambience was lovely but not enough to return.

Enjoyed a great meal at the Koonya on Friday night. Definitely heading back next time we're in Sorrento.

It was Tuesday night Burger night at the Koonya hotel. We ordered the chicken burger and the beef burger. Both were amazing. The beef burger was as good as if not better than any New York Burger. The hotel is in the perfect setting with views of Sorrento front beach. Definitely recommend eating and having a drink at this hotel.

Go to this place if you are looking for below average food with worst customer service.There is no table seating and I was asked to move from a table outdoors across the beach after I paid and sat down. There were other groups of 4 sitting in the same seatings. When I said no since I have 2 kids and there are other groups of 4 in the same seating the exact words of the owner/manager was “Have you paid” with a smirk on his face to which I answered yes and his comments were “let’s see if you get your food” if not for my hungry kids I would have not spent a minute at your disgusting place. I was so humiliated in-front of all the others and felt discriminated due to my ethnicity. Would discourage everyone to going to this establishment.
