KooKoo is a concept by Chef/Owner Yahya Sardari to bring the tastes of his childhood dishes to life. We strive to use the freshest available ingredients and best family recipes to bring our favorite dishes to life. We have a crafted some amazing Persian inspired cocktails for your enjoyment. Traditional spices married with the best spirits by our resident mixologist Danielle. Yahya Sardari brought Kookoo to life in August of 2023 to showcase his love of Persian cuisine. With family recipes handed down from his mom he recreates his childhood memories and shares his passion for cooking and hosting with his guests.

The staff was so welcoming, and as a Persian, the food was delicious. Had that homemade taste that is tough to find. And the owner’s engagement with the patrons made for a nice experience overall. Will definitely visit again!

I really enjoy eating at KooKoo. Love the food. My favorites are their kookoo sibzamini, wings and their baghali stew. They are so friendly and warm. Took a couple of friends there and they love it too

You could taste how personal, familial, and home-cooked the meal was! Everything about our dining experience was smooth and delicious, and the food was sincerely prepared with love and attention. Thankful for a place like KooKoo in my neighborhood!

A gem in Columbia Heights! Unique and delicious. Soon open for lunch as well. We will definitely return to try other dishes.
