Komaaj is a Northern Iranian cuisine brand focusing on the flavors and aromas of the Northern region of Iran. Komaaj was born with the mission to create a platform for making a cultural bridge by serving, well-crafted and unique Northern Iranian cuisine with an emphasis on regional flavors, and their culinary traditions. Today, Komaaj food and its products are prepared and presented in a manner that honors Northern Iran culinary traditions by sourcing seasonal fresh produce, herbs, spices, and products available in the Bay Area.

Our latest project, KOMAAJ MAZZE WINE BAR, brings the tastes, smells, and traditions of the region we call home to the table at our newly opened location in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco.

At KOMAAJ MAZZE WINE BAR we offer a culinary experience of platter style dishes for you to share while sipping on our special collection of the Caucasus regional wines and house made non-alcoholic Sharbats that are unique in taste and memorable to experience.

As somebody that knows Persian food very well, this is an incredible gem. Can’t believe I have not been here prior.

Komaj seemed to be doing everything right until we got to sat down and order. The server was trying to explain the menu a bit rudely.

The food was great with not too many options. Everything was tasty. However, we were disappointed by the service and drinks. First, we felt rushed to order. Second, the kitchen closed at 9pm, and we were not even offered desserts before the kitchen closed. A waitress offered us baklava when we asked about it letting us know this was the only option she could offer us. It seemed it just came out of the fridge. It felt cold and not prepared at all. Finally, at 9:30pm they rushed us to get out so they could close. If a restaurant accepts reservations at 8pm, except people to stay 2h. And on top of it, they applied a 21% immediate gratuity to our table (less than 6 people). The drink menu is small, mostly wine. There is no wine by the glass at less than $18 and most wine glasses range from $25-30. I understand that prices have increased but if you add tax and tips on it, that's more than $35 a glass. When we asked for a wine recommendation, the waitress gave us the most expensive one, without reminding us of its price. We felt we were taken advantage of. Unfortunately, we will not come back. I feel sad for San Francisco restaurant scene. You cannot go out for less than $75 nowadays and they still want you to get out as fast as possible.

Komaaj never disappoints! The service is fantastic, always attentive and friendly. The food is delicious - the mazze platters are great to share. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious and very authentic. The staff was warm, welcoming and attentive to our questions. They all helped make my wife’s birthday celebration memorable and delicious. We are already making plans to come back with friends and family.

The food menu is limited but very good . Their main courses were a sweet & sour chicken and Mirzaghassemi ( the eggplant dish) which were excellent. The other two main entrees were super salty fish with fresh herbs that should be served as side dishes and not main plates. their starters were all fantastic especially the olives and the Dalaar cucumber salad. We encountered excellent service and a nice selection of Armenian and Geogian wines. All together a very nice experience. We will go back again.

Dinner at Komaaj was amazing! Host was super accommodating with help changing number of ppl in reservation last minute and extremely welcoming. Wine from Armenia and Georgia were delish. All of the meals we had were excellent. Flavorful, nicely presented and good portion sizes. Try the Olives, the chicken and salmon belly! Service was a plus too! Will definitely be back!

Such a fantastic experience, and delicious food! The service was super amazing, friendly, kind and they explained the entire menu to my friends and I! The cuisine is like no other with wonderful flavors and unique ingredients that we all loved! The wine list is wonderful and my friends and I can’t wait to go back here!

Persian Tapas, who knew? Great food with a Caspian twist on the Persian Cuisine served at the places I have frequented in the Bay Area - familiar flavors served in a deliciously refreshing way - loved it!
