Welcome to Koko by Bakan. Nestled in the natural tree canopy of Coconut Grove, our 6,000 square-foot indoor and outdoor restaurant & bar transports guests to Mexico with its sophisticated and artistic design, cacti garden, and outdoor bar & terrace. I have been 5 times at KOKO but the BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE NOISE. PEOPEL GO THERE to TALK , have a conversation. The audience are families, friends and the age group is 35+. People want to hear each other or have a conversation. The MUSIC IS TOO LOUD. How about NO music, or the kind of music that is soothing not tam-tam and not loud. Everything else it great: food, ambiance, comfy chairs, service BUT do not good if you want to have a conversation.

Food - Tortillas were bland and dry - Chicken flautas were very basic chicken flautas with a tiny bowl of beans, sauces and cheese - Sauces were Ok - Ceviche was similar to a standard lime based fish ceviche - Overall their recipes aren't anything special Staff - I checked in but they didn't acknowledge I had reservation since they had enough space. However they ignored the note on the reservation that it was a birthday dinner - A bit inattentive when it came to checking in and offering water - We still had food on our plates and they reached to take it away near the end of the meal - The second time around they didn't ask and took some food items away

The tamarindo margaritas were great, we had the queso fundido, guacamole, salads, and short rib tacos. The churros with chocolate filling were amazing!! Service was great, will definitely visit again.

Wonderful food, service and ambiance. We had a guacamole ap, shrimp tacos and machateada salad, all three delicious. We also shared the charred cauliflower which was good, but had a flavor I didn't care for. The service was great and its a beautiful room with a great vibe. The music is pretty loud so you do need to sit close to your group to chat. I've dined there three times and will go back often.

EXCELLENT service was good and the food is similar to talavera. Definitely recommend for Mexican lovers

Nice place. Great decor! The food was tasty. The green sauce is quite spicy but delicious. Sat inside but definitely will sit outside when the temperature drops. Staff is friendly.

The two young women when you first enter never smiled and barely acknowledged us. Luckily, our server, Mariah was wonderful. She knew the menu and was friendly and warm. The light beige sofa upon which we were seated was stained and needed a really good cleaning. Food was great…. We live around the corner and will be back, but please retrain the two at the front to welcome customers!
