Sungchul Shim, formerly of Per Se and most recently Neta, opens his first solo project Kochi in Hell’s Kitchen

KOCHI - Korean for ‘skewer’- a tasting menu of skewered dishes as well as menu items inspired by traditional Korean cuisine that’s built around seasonality and balance.

We are proud to present this menu as an homage to traditional Korean flavors elevated by the hand of gastronomic technique. Incorporating the freshest local ingredients daily, this is our exquisite interpretation of Korean cuisine.

[PLEASE NOTE]

We are not able to accommodate vegan, vegetarian with gluten-free and celiac diets as well as any allergies or aversions to allium, sesame (even if sesame oil is consumable), soy, gluten, and alcohol. We are able to accommodate vegetarians, aversions to red meat, shellfish, seafood, dairy, nut, gluten (if soy and soy sauce is consumable) and alcohol (if cooked alcohol is consumable) with at least a day of notice in advance.

D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : Sungchul Shim, ancien élève du Bernardin et du Per Se, éblouit ses convives avec un menu dégustation coréen à neuf plats composé de brochettes grillées à déguster avec les mains. On y trouve une multitude de plats originaux, comme des croquettes à la soupe de betterave, dans le cadre élégant de marbre et de bois du restaurant Hell's Kitchen, étoilé par le guide Michelin.

Kochi was such a fantastic experience! The service, food and ambiance were all amazing. All of the courses were extremely well done. I think my only critical point would be the shaved truffles on the hangar steak course didn't really add much flavor to the dish and you couldn't really even tell they were there being summer black truffles. But, overall every course was presented beautifully and the pacing of the meal was excellent. Service was quick and attentive. Plates were cleared when finished and cutlery for the next course was immediately placed down. The biggest surprise to me was the Calpico foam in the blackberry dessert course. It was a favorite drink from childhood and it was such a neat experience of having the flavors of it in a foam.

Amazing as always. I had a late +2 head counts to the party and they’re able to accommodate my request. Thank you! My friends are super happy that I brought them to Kochi.

Definitely stellar food and service. We enjoyed that immensely. Location on 10th avenue and 46 th street makes it subject to traffic noise. Wine selection was good and server helped us pick a nice bottle. We did not opt for the wine service with the Chef’s selection. Dessert was a high point

The food was truly amazing! Even if I’m not a fan of multiple services in a tasting menu, everything was delicious and not too much!

The 9 course chefs tasting menu was great! Perfect amount of food. Did not leave hungry! The wine pairing was a great addition. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. Sitting at the counter was amazing because you could watch the kitchen staff plating the dishes. Amazing!

My husband and I enjoyed over 2 hours of sensory stimulation and taste explosion of tasty bites after tasty bites. We highly recommend Wagyu A5 for main course. And lastly, the attentiveness and hospitality of the entire team at Kochi was unbelievable.

The tasting experience was fantastic! I am truly glad for the experience, the octopus skewer was my favorite but every dish had strong robust flavors which is what I always love whenever I go out to eat. I definitely recommend to everyone!
