KLEIN / HARRIS is an independent restaurant concept, inspired from the diverse bounty that Canada has to offer. Located in downtown Calgary on Stephen Avenue, KLEIN / HARRIS highlights the stories of passionate Canadian producers with the use of exceptional products and ingredients. Working with a long list of national heroes that make True North Cuisine possible, Executive Chef James Waters focuses on distinct coast-to-coast Canadian dishes; a culinary journey that begins in the West to eventually end on the East Coast, highlighting ingredients like wild seasonal mushrooms from British Columbia and fresh notable oysters from The Mari-times.

    We’ve been to Klein/Harris a number of times. It’s our usual go-to before the theatre. We’ve always enjoyed every aspect— the service, the food, the atmosphere. Last night started off no different. We had pork belly and apple walnut salad to start. Both were excellent. Then things shifted a bit. The staff seemed a bit scattered/stressed? It was full, but I imagine that’s the norm on theatre nights. We like it when our servers make us feel special, or at least, important. Perhaps it was too busy for that more personal touch. For mains we had the duck and special fish. The duck was gristly and disappointing. The fish was okay. It lacked a little flavor. Last time we were there, there was a female head chef. We always enjoyed every morsel when she was at the helm. There’s no question we will be back, and hope it was just a glitch in the normally excellent experience Klein/Harris is known for.

    Upscale, intimate, refined eatery with a clever beverage menu. An amuse-bouche, generously portioned salad, and appetizer were plenty of food for me. Always enjoy an “open-kitchen” concept … but got too wrapped up in my delicious smoked duck with apple purée to watch any cooking. Staff was exceedingly kind, dedicated, and passionate about their work. Made me sad to exit onto the night-time party environment of Stephen Avenue Walk; Klein / Harris feels more sophisticated than that. Recommend … especially if you enjoy an intellectual approach to your responsibly-Canadian-sourced restaurants.

    These people care about what they do. Family run, the chef is putting out top quality food, perfectly prepared , wonderful textures and flavour along with a lovely presentation. The pork belly is a must, beet salad was fresh crisp and delicious. The chateaubriand was fabulous. Unfortunately too full to sample any dessert. The chefs brother is dedicated and provided maitre d service in a very cordial and personable way. We are dedicated foodies and we’re impressed , I’m sure you will be too. Thanks for a great meal!! We will be back and I think I’ll have two orders of pork belly next time. 👍

    Its such a pleasure when a resturant meets your expectations. Our special family event was acknowledged by our server and other staff. The empahsis on Canadain cusine was great. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

    The squid in the handmade pasta almost melted in the mouth. It was superb. As was the grilled salmon on a bed of vegetables.

    Klein Harris is our go to restaurant for the consistent quality of the food and service. Last night’s dinner was no exception. Good flavours, well prepared and presented.

    Phenomenal Modern contemporary dining. The fresh and wonderfully designed dining area and open kitchen were a refreshing change. The menu, although nothing challenging appears is steeped in tradition (chateaubriand steak) and executed excellently. We happened to catch a rather lax server but other team members made up for it. Would definitely go back for the talented kitchen staff
