We have visited the Kite at the Red Hart on several occasions and it never fails to impress. The service and food were absolutely excellent. We were pleasantly surprised to have some unexpected treats for our wedding anniversary

Lovely setting, great friendly service , only suggestion would be a note to say that roast beef is served fairy rare. My husband, who likes his beef well done was not able to enjoy the roast beef and left most of it although overall he enjoyed the rest of the meal. I loved the way the roast beef was served but if my husband had been aware of how pink it was he would have chosen another dish. Overall , lovely, enjoyable place to visit and would highly recommend.

We train our front of house staff to let customers know the beef is served pink, however we are always more than happy to cook it further if that is preferred - please know we'll be looking into why this was not the case for your experience. We do hope you visit us again in the future!

Incredible Sunday lunch here. I find quite often that Sunday lunches out at pubs and restaurants can be disappointing but Kite at The Red Hart was exceptional. Generous portions of beautifully seasoned veg, soft pink beef that melted at the slightest bite, a mound of crisp potato’s and a massive skillet of silky smooth cauliflower cheese. £29 is a little over even the most gastro of pubs these days but given £20 is a solid going rate elsewhere, stretch the extra tenner and go here. Everywhere else is a waste of time and money.

Among the best places to eat in Hitchin by a long way. We had a lovely meal here for our anniversary, food and service was fantastic as usual. Would definitely recommend saving some space for the chocolate caramel mousse though!

The Kite is a must visit restaurant in Hertfordshire. Food, exquisite. Drinks, delicious. Atmosphere, unmatched. Went here for our anniversary and was treated with perfect service from all the staff (and Jess). 5 stars.

Food was excellent! Nice atmosphere in the dining room and the staff were attentive, friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Very nice Sunday lunch. Excellent roast beef with exceptional cauliflower cheese and toasties. Not so keen on the horseradish sauce - a bit to creamy for my taste. Chocolate mousse was also top notch.

Sunday lunch for 5. Really exceptional quality beef. Pink and tender. Excellent attention to detail. Great roasties that tasted fresh out of the oven and very cheesy cauliflower cheese. I never go out for a roast because one or more elements are often terrible but we had guests who wanted one. Yes it’s more expensive than many places but it is seriously great.

They really spoiled us. It was my daughter’s birthday and they made her a cocktail and petit fours as a free surprise. Food was great apart from the meat, which was quite bland (we had 3 different types of roast, all said the same thing). Wine was excellent.
