Kitchen in the Desert is a Caribbean and New American restaurant located just outside the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. We pride ourselves in making high quality food from scratch using fresh ingredients and providing a comfortable environment to enjoy it in. We have a full bar plus beer and wine and are open nightly from 5 to 10pm. *Please be advised that all reservations are for outdoor seating, so please dress accordingly.

A lovely evening at the Kitchen. So pleasant to sit outside for a really good meal. We had the doubles (fantastic), the jerk fried rice (fantastic) and the outstanding chicken fried sandwich. A great space, very pleasant service and excellent food. One to return to.

Do not come if you have a large group! We came in a group of 7. The food and drinks took a long time to come out, and none of it was very good. The ambience was nice though. We were told fries would only take 15 min but they took 45 min. Some of our group received their main dish first, while it took 1 hr for others. We had to repeatedly ask our server Bree to check on our dishes. We even had to ask for salt because the dishes were bland (the jerk chicken fried rice, doubles). The restaurant was not busy, so we didn’t understand why the food took so long. The service was really lacking. Bree never acknowledged that things were taking a long time to arrive. Overall Kitchen in the Desert was really disappointing and I do not recommend it at all. The only thing this place has going for them is the ambience - nothing else.

I love this place have been many times but last night the food was exceptional. Thank you all for your delicious food & drinks and Brie’s great service!

The restaurant itself is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. They didn’t have 4 of the items on the menu (and not all of the pie flavors were available). By the time we left 5 menu items were unavailable. The sliders we did order (2 individual sliders for $21) came with cheese on them, despite there being no mention of it on the menu. Big problem for folks with allergies (like us). It took forever to get our water refilled and overall the service was a bit slow. Even if they figured all of this out, still likely not worth it for the price & serving sizes.

Food was fantastic however service was a bit rough. We normally love this place but we went for breakfast this time and our server was extremely inattentive to the point he even checked his phone while taking our order. We went 3 other times in this same two week period and it was great but this one breakfast was a disappointment
