Kitchen in the Desert is a Caribbean and New American restaurant located just outside the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. We pride ourselves in making high quality food from scratch using fresh ingredients and providing a comfortable environment to enjoy it in. We have a full bar plus beer and wine and are open nightly from 5 to 10pm. *Please be advised that all reservations are for outdoor seating, so please dress accordingly.

After a day in Joshua Tree National Park, Kitchen in the Desert was the perfect way to end the day. I have several dietary restrictions and was pleasantly surprised at how easily they were accommodated. Most of the entrees are gluten free and all the ice creams were vegan! Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed.

First time at Kitchen In The Desert 🏜 and hands down. Food is full of flavors i got the smashed burger and the jerk chicken plate. Really recommend it 👌 definitely coming back when I'm on this side of town.

Love this place, BUT, the service is not great. We booked the only table that was “available”, 9pm, so get there at 8.45, notice that there are at least 8 tables available. We waited at the front desk while the staff were having an argument and then left “sorry, we have to sort this out”. We didn’t get a table until 9.45pm and then were told they were out of a lot of the items and it has been an exhausting day. Okay. Food was amazing when it arrived around 10pm, but we were starving by then! Have been to Kitchen in the Desert several times and I could probably cut and paste the same review. Amazing food, beautiful ambience, but the service is a mess.

What a great find! Love the food, service and outdoor seating is awesome. Plus, they played awesome moody music. Great experience, will return.

The service and food were wonderful, and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely recommend it.

It was a cool vibe, food was alright but the shiitake mushrooms were 10/10 lol

As locals we know that most often if we want a really nice dinner we end up going down below, but we remembered we had been here a few yrs ago after moving to Joshua Tree and finally made our way back. We never should have waited this long! It did not disappoint and we wished we were hungry enough to order more. We will definitely not wait as long to return!

We apparently dined on menu change day which meant they had multiple menu items out of stock (including potatoes somehow) and no coffee. There was one (incredible despite the circumstances) server working, so everything took forever. Multiple things were sent out incorrectly and the food was honestly just fine. To their credit they did comp a lot of our bill because of the issues. Do not recommend for brunch, and if you’re going at the beginning of the month call ahead and see what the new menu may be.

Love the flavors and the combinations that the chef creates. However KITD is still plagued by disorganized service. This was my court or fifth trip and they always seem to have a problem that derails them. No glass wear missing utensils, missing waitress, over crowed bar. They need more help or a front of house mgr to pull it all together. If your are gonna go, they will be slow and disorganized. Have plenty of time and patience.
