Welcome to Kismező!

An authentic Hungarian restaurant in the heart of Budapest, nestled under the shade of a plane tree, situated on the iconic street of fashion, music, theatre, and contemporary art. The menu features characteristic and beloved dishes from Upper Hungary, Transylvania, the Great Plain, and Southern Hungary, prepared with traditional recipes and local ingredients, presented sometimes in a modern style and sometimes in a rustic fashion. By day, it's an exciting and vibrant bistro; by night, a quiet and cosy dinner spot where families and groups can explore the culinary delights of Hungary's hidden or distant regions. At Kismező, you can embark on a unique wine tour featuring excellent selections from the eastern wine regions of Hungary: wines from the Mátra, Eger, Bükk, Tokaj, Transylvania, and the Great Plain wine regions, including ancient Hungarian grape varieties and trendy cuveés, are showcased on the wine, sparkling wine, and pálinka menu.

Die Bedienung ist eher hochnäsig. Nach dem ich mit einem Messer beim Abräumen getroffen wurde gab es nicht mal eine Entschuldigung. Die Erwartung bei der Preisklasse wurde durch die Küche nicht erfüllt. Zu wenig, zu kalt und es war nichts von ungarischer Küche zu spüren. Meine Empfehlung: Geht woanders essen !!

We had duck pate as a starter and schnitzel with potato salad (not a good combination) as a main dish. Neither of the dishes were very good.

Traditional Eastern European foods are prepared in a contemporary way. They were all outstanding.

Huge disappointment. We booked a table here instead of one of our favorite, usual restaurants, we chose it based on the reviews we read on the internet. It's completely incomprehensible to us how this place could get such a high score, the service is completely amateur, the waiter knows nothing about food, drinks and service. The dishes (2-person "bükki ham plate", lecho, chicken paprikash) were either poor, forgettable, or uncomfortably salty. There are many good restaurants in the area, it was a shame to choose this one.

Don‘t order the burger!!!! Cheese and olive starter was good. Pea risotto was good tastewise but hardly any rice (the clue should be in the name). By contrast my wife‘s burger was a catastrophe: frozen patty and a bun that wasn’t really worth mentioning. Overall overpriced, but Budapest seems to be high priced but the food quality doesn’t (yet) match the high cost. Unfortunate.

the service was really poor. we were a group of 5 friends, and we had to wait very long to take the order , and after a long wait our order was delivered completely wrong. The waiter didnt speak a good english and he made a mess with what we ordered. I just appreciate the fact that they gave us a bottle of wine for the long wait and mess with the order.

Restaurant très sympathique, bonne ambiance, pas de musique ce qui qui rend l’atmosphère plus tranquille. Un menu TRÈS restreint. Regardez-le avant de réserver! La plupart des plats en photo ne s’y trouvent pas. Les plats sont tout juste corrects, (la goulasch soup toujours peu trop salée). Mon canard était délicieux, mais le risotto qui l’accompagnait, un peu lourd. Mon amie a pris le poulet paprika, un peu décevant. Ce qui a relevé le tout c’est un serveur spécialement sympathique ! Je ne recommande pas particulièrement ce restaurant. Pas très cher, mais moyen.
