The prime rib was cooked to perfection and was quite large. I had the trout. It was fabulous. The peanut soup was lighter than I remember. I had the black eyed peas which was like a soup. Our server, Lydia, was delightful. She handled the table next to us - who complained about everything - with professionalism and grace. The musician played three tunes and explained about each. It as the hit of the evening.

Excellent food and service. A bit more pricey than comparable restaurants but given that you’re in Colonial America and most likely on vacation, suck it up and enjoy.

Amazing place to eat! The food was good and it really immersed you into the time period! All of the staff was very friendly and kind. An amazing experience for the whole family!!

What a marvelous evening! I cannot say enough good things about the staff. From the gentleman who seated us to our server Destiny, we received quality care. We started with the peanut soup, which is a creamy salty delicious first course. We ordered a bowl of the Kings Arms Punch (reminded me of a Mule and was very tasty!). We loved the little mugs that it was served in! The bowl was probably better suited to three or four people but we nearly finished it. We both ordered the “Shoat Stew” which was made with a Madeira wine reduction. It was so tender it fell off the bone. It was served on grits and was incredible. The dessert that stood out was the “Cloud Eggs.” They are hard to describe but I plan to try and replicate it. Imagine a shallow bowl with a small amount of a creamy custard. Circle it with candied pecans. In a separate bowl beat eggs until they are a light soft peak meringue. Place the meringue over the top of the custard/nuts. Surround it with fresh berries, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar… and enjoy! It was one of the best things I’ve ever had. Make a night of it - don’t try to rush to an evening event, but lean into a fabulous night .

We have been enjoying all of the Taverns for more than 30 yrs . The Kings Arms is the one we wend to first on our honeymoon so it has fond memories for us and much to live up to . Our experience recently was all that we hoped it would be . Thank you for maintaining the quality and historic ambiance .

Truly disappointing. The cocktails were weak, and the food was terrible with the exception of the peanut soupe which was wonderful as was the Westphalia Ham and pecan pie dessert. The Onion Pye was flavorless; the Pork Shanks Choat were tough with carrots & broccoli not cooked thoroughly (though the sauce and grits were quite tasty); the Bread Pudding was the consistency of a brick; the custard in the Snow Eggs had turned (though the strawberries and soft meringue topping was quite good). Try Christiana Campell's Tavern (another restaurant offering "culinary traditions of the past" instead; we had a wonderful meal there during our last visit.

Despite having a reservation, the wait to be seated was over 30 mins. Wait staff were great. Very authentic. Had pork shank, which very good. Also had the nightly special-crab stuffed salmon. It was good but not outstanding. Good experience for a first time visit. Not sure I would rush back again.

Wonderful place. Ambience is something I love, and if you’re into history (though the building itself is not as old as one might think, but replicates everything), than you’ll love this place. I tried a variety of foods, my taste pallet not the most sophisticated, but liked pretty much everything. Nice little corner table, candle lit, music from the 1700’s played by a musician, just fantastic. My son and I explored the upstairs, and just all around excellent place to visit and eat at. It is pricey, but in the larger scheme of things, it’s not much more than eating at any other chain restaurant. For example, 2 adults, 1 child: $80+ with tip included. I highly recommend if you can get a reservation-especially after a day visiting all the historical places with the pass to end the day around 5:30PM. Enjoy!

We celebrated our 46 anniversary at Kings Arms. We celebrated our honeymoon here as well. Great memories, great music, great food, wonderful service.
