At Kindling we believe that great steak should be for everyone. Located in the heart of Brighton, our restaurant offers a laid-back dining experience with great value, quality beef cooked over charcoal and live fire.
Our open kitchen lets you see all the action up close. Witness the skill and passion of our team as they cook your steak to perfection.

We focus on quality and value, creating a casual environment that makes everyone feel at home. Kindling is perfect for casual business lunches, family get-togethers and catch-ups with friends.

Our menu is simple but spot-on. It features grass-fed British beef and delicious cocktails, wines, and beers that perfectly complement your meal. On Sundays and Mondays, we serve our Sharing Roast for two alongside our regular menu.

Nice steak but no trimmings, my partner had the halloumi burger which was very disappointing portobello mushroom brioche bun and slithering of halloumi. Expensive for what it is. Local IPA is a can of beer not draft.

Good was very good but the restaurant lacked atmosphere and with the exception of the barman, none was prepared to engage with you at any level so it became rather perfunctory. Shame because the food deserved better

Went here for an anniversary dinner. Would 100% recommend the t-bone sharing cut!!

Amazing food first and for most, with great service, lovely atmosphere, attentiveness. Good selection of wines, beer, and cider. Can't ask for much more! Special shout out to chef Archie for talking about the dishes and recommendations.

Food was outstanding, my wife had the halloumi and mushroom burger which she loved. I had the house steak which was the only affordable steak but was still brilliant. What I particularly liked was that the sides of fries were of a decent size rather than the thimble you get at other places. The menu is elegantly simple. Kindling knows what it’s trying to do and does it well. We went on a Wednesday lunch time and must have been unlucky as we were placed at a table that we thought was well-positioned but ended up being right in the way of a draught when the door opened. Unfortunately this happened a lot as they were receiving a delivery that was being relayed in by hand by one person. We asked for the curtain to be pulled across but it had little effect. We would have moved but our food was already on the table. We were offered a free drink as compensation which we accepted. Some other service details that were missed that you expect at a restaurant of this calibre: - water not offered as standard along with the drinks - having to open and pour own bottle of water once asked for - half the main meal delivered and then 3-4 mins wait until the rest of the sides were added Would have been a perfect experience if we, the customer, had been put at the centre of it.

2nd visit in as many weeks and it didn't disappoint ! Visited on Tuesday evening and the place was packed, with a really good vibe, but not too loud. Recommended.

Impeccable food with great flavour! Shared a roast with my Dad and it was the perfect amount of food! The staff are lovely and attentive. The restaurant and facilities were very clean too! Definitely will be returning to try something different!
