Opened in 2016, this Uptown Mexican eatery continues to gather accolades, including a spot on The New York Times' recommendations "36 hours in Chicago" and four straight years of being a MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand restaurant right up to the present.

An immersive experience of Oaxacan cuisine featuring layudas (a.k.a. Mexican pizza), tamales oaxaqueños, enchiladas de mole, cornish hen and tacos de birria just to name a few. Their selection of margaritas made with homemade agua frescas with no artificial syrups and mimosas on the weekends is a must! Diners know to leave room too for the Oaxacan nicuatole (a flavored flan) and tres leches cake.

Kie-Gol-Lanee comes from the Zapotec dialect meaning "Piedra Antigua" (old stone). Its Spanish version "Quiegolani" is the name of a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico, where the owners and siblings are from. Maria and Reynel Mendoza run this operation with their spouses, Leo and Sandra, whose mission is to preserve their family’s original recipes.

We went to this place years ago and thought it was a hidden gem. Not so anymore. The server was attentive and the place is cute, so that's why it's getting three stars. However, at the price point, the food was truly disappointing. The tamale was uninspired and lacking flavor. The price they charged for the tostada was criminal. It was super bland and covered in cheese, and even that didn't save it. After I ate a third of it, they brought two sauces out of the blue that I suppose were supposed to come with it, which did add some flavor. Frankly it was like bad wet nachos. I am happy to pay a premium for good food, but I paid $45 for food that I didn't enjoy at all. What a disappointment. I won't be going back. So surprising, given its recent accolades.

We tried the restaurant week menu and it was absolutely fantastic! Delicious food and great service. Can’t wait to come back!

First time ever having a birthday celebration in a restaurant. Not exactly sure what to expect but had a great feeling about visiting this place after exhaustive research in different restaurants. It was a the perfect choice, no doubt about it. The restaurant does not compromise its authenticity or flavor. shows Oaxacan cuisine as it is. delicious and well distributed. So many choices to dive into the sea of flavors. The drinks were well prepared and the horchata is a gem! Delicious tlayudas, perfectly cooked tamales, and the deviled shrimp were simply extraordinary. The unusual dishes in the area are grasshoppers and rabbit, they are simply something you must try. Service was good. Definitely a place worth visiting.

Been to Kie-Gol-Lanee multiple times and it never disappoints! My bacalhau with tomatoes and zucchini was so incredibly tender and flavorful that the table was lowkey jealous :) the mole with the roasted cornish hen was incredible, and the tlacoyos de frijoles were excellent. Service was attentive and so personal, it is clearly a family-run business. 10/10 recommend!

We had a lovely meal! The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the food was outstanding. I especially enjoyed the tamales— you think you’ve had a tamale before, but these are next level. Will definitely be back!
