We offer 2 seatings per day at 5:30 and 7:30 PM. Check in time is 15 minutes before boil time. Please confirm your orders with us directly ahead of your reservation.

Fish Boils- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Cajun Boils- Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

Fish boils are Door County’s only indigenous dish, brought to the Peninsula by Scandinavian immigrants.

Our Masterboiler slices fresh fish into chunks, then boils it with baby red potatoes and sweet onions. The fish boil kettle is brought to a boil over an open fire… when the fish is cooked to perfection, a small amount of kerosene is poured into the base of the fire. The result? A spectacular burst of flames and the famous boil-over that leaves the food ready to be immediately served at your table inside the restaurant. Fish, potatoes, and onions served with fresh lemons, melted butter, coleslaw, homemade sweet breads and Door County cherry pie.

Our Cajun Shrimp Boil with additional Lobster tail option is offered Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 5:30 & 7:30. We require a reservation including the complete food order for every member of the party. Visit add-ons within this Opentable app. Please check-in 20 minutes early with the hostess at the wine and beer bar. You're welcome to grab yourself a drink and make your way out back, we have seating setup around the kettle with a waterview. When the food is finished, you'll be served at your table. Please note: select the lobster tail add-on if you would like this in addition to the Cajun Shrimp Boil We have kids' options available!

Fantastic food and experience. The team was delightful and knowledgeable. The presentation was excellent and the Cajun boil was better than New Orleans. What a great dinner!

We were very happy with our meal and experience at Kettle Black. It was entertaining to watch the chef cook the meal, tell the story of Kettle Black and do the boil over. The ambience was great..a fun date night! Service was friendly. Would recommend! We plan on going back.

The cajun boil was so much fun and the food was spectacular. The hosts and everyone there were so wonderful. I would definitely recommend!

We had called prior to making reservations, asking about allergies. We were told that when you make the reservation to put anything pertinent in the comment box. I made the reservations, was VERY explicit in the comment box about my allergy to mushrooms. When we were being served, I asked about if they all contained mushrooms, the answer was "Yes". I said that I am highly allergic and put that in the comments. She checked in the kitchen, the owner came out and offered to make me chicken, but would take at least 20-25 min. We had ordered the lobster as an add on, too, which I was unable to eat. After my table was done eating, the owner apologized again, said that when we come again, to call and talk directly to him, because he takes notes on it. We DID talk to him during the initial phone call AND it was put in comments, I don't know how much more was needed to be said. We did not receive any discount on price, not offered a free meal, just the chicken instead of the Cajun fish boil that I was looking forward to for a month. My fiance was VERY upset for making a 3 hour trip with out friends along, for me to eat chicken.

You can taste the love! Seriously. I don't eat fish. My husband does. I'm still glad to have enjoyed the boil. This place felt like a home cooked meal. The ambiance was perfection. The history and reason they do the boil was loving. Boiled food has a eh consistency. Not this. It was perfection! The seasoning was perfect. It was fun to watch. The ribs fell off the bone. He said he wanted non fish people to still get the experience. The potato's onions and corn were cooked perfect. His own seasonings, we should have asked to purchase. And finishing it off with perfect cherry pie. Oooh so good. The music was homey and perfect. We really couldn't have asked for a better dining experience that this family has made. We debated where to go and are so glad we chose this family restaurant. I just wish we were there for a Cajun boil too!

My first boil of any kind. It was very relaxed. My husband had been to a door county fish boil years ago with no excitement to return. He saw this and thought since I had not ever had the experience we would give it a whirl. What a great experience. I loved the flavors! We will return again. Great service. We are excited to try Paul’s (?) fish boil

We went to Black Kettle last year and enjoyed it so much we took another group of friend this year. The owners do a great job of explaining the shrimp/lobster boil process and it is DELICIOUS! The owners spent time visiting with us and sharing their story of the their business. They were delightful! Highly recommend!

It was my first fish boil. Experience from beginning to end was amazing! Food was delicious! Definitely coming back to try the Cajun boil! : )
