Kembara is the latest project from Chef Angelo Sosa that embraces Asian street food cultures, exemplifying the tradition of cherishing time-honored recipes, while also playfully innovating upon familiar flavors and techniques for fresh takes.

The menu is an homage to Chef Sosa’s travels across Asia, with inspiration drawn from countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, China, Singapore and Japan.

Each dish is constructed around Chef Sosa’s concept of a “trinity of flavors”—a balance between sweet, sour and salty elements that culminate in a perfect bite of harmony.

The vegetable spring rolls were delicious, so were the mushroom leek and mushroom skewers. The chili silken tofu was absolutely great, loved the textures and flavor profile.

We loved sitting on the patio under the sparkling lights & hanging lanterns, now that the weather in Phoenix permits it. Service was outstanding & everyone was welcoming and very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed some of the dishes, and others not as much. The pork collar was delicious; we did not care for the dressing on the beautiful salad that accompanied it. The Chicken Satay was delicious, as was the dipping sauce. We thought the 3 pork dim sum should have been 4 (for 2 people) and they were just too pedestrian. The lo mein was very tasty & a nice side for the Satay (skewers) and pork collar. The Japanese beers we tried were perfect with the spicy food. The outstanding dish of the night was the Vietnamese 5 spice doughnuts with caramel sauce! I would return just for them!!

Lovely place to dine, in terms of ambiance and service. Appetizers were a bit overpriced. There was a nice selection of interesting dishes however most were spicy, even one that was not supposed to be spicy was. So, very limited choices for a person adverse to spicy food. Another issue is that most of the dishes had shellfish in it in some form. Very few choices without. If you are adverse to spicy food medically or otherwise and have a shellfish allergy the only choices, literally only choices were rice, lo mein or a steak. So, unfortunately I have to give this establishment a low rating as too many people would not be able to eat there. It would definitely not be a good choice for children because of the spicy food, and being in a family friendly resort there should be some simple choices as well.

Awesome restaurant! Our server Megan was wonderful! She was so knowledgeable about the food and drink selections. We told her what we liked and she got it perfect. Dishes were amazing, as well as the wine she suggested. Highly recommend! It was our first trip to Phoenix. If we ever come back we will definitely be eating here again!

Had such a wonderful evening dinning at Kembara. The beautiful colors of the restaurant and ambiance made it so memorable. To top it off we had the nicest server who gave so many great suggestions and was so attentive. She really made our evening so special. Thank you for such a wonderful night!

I had a crab rice dish and was violently ill in the middle of the night. I notified the Marriott staff and a report was filed but I was never refunded anything. I'm a loyal Marriott guest and have never had an issue like this at any of their properties. The place was pretty empty and very understaffed. Service was really slow, although our waitress was very friendly and did a good job with what she had. Overall, would not recommend.

Sorry...we didn't enjoy the food. It was tasting sweet and not good. Our anniversary wasn't even acknowledged. We were really disappointed.
