The food was fantastic! We ordered four different rolls including the Honolulu roll which my husband was skeptical about but it ended up being our absolute favorite! Service was meh… our waiter was training someone but our service from the person he was training was far better from the new server than it was from him. It took three attempts to get my drink order right. He was rather absent from our table and checked on us a total of maybe three times. The trainee was personable and attentive.

The Sushi making class is not worth $100, such a rip off. The sake wasn't great and we weren't even offered if we wanted a different drink. I understand different sushi making class levels mean you make different kinds of advanced sushi. I wish I had known I'd be making bottom of the barrel rolls (California, Tempura and Spicy Tuna) because I would not have bothered paying for this. I will not recommend this class and hope to save people from spending money here.

The service and the food were outstanding. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the mint tea was delicious.

We did the sushi making class with head chef Kham. It was an absolutely amazing experience and an even better value for an evening out. Sam, our waitress, was kind and super attentive. We experienced so many new Sakis and even an off menu sushi roll. Can not wait to go back for this unique experience. Highly recommend for a great date night.

This was a last minute reservation for the beginners sushi class, we had never been to Kelp sushi joint so we came in not knowing what to expect. We arrived approximately 10 before the class started and quickly found easy parking in the small plaza, when we walked into the building I noticed instantly that it was nicely spaced out with multiple sushi stations at the bar and many booths along the walls with a few tables throughout the middle. Our receptionists guided us to the back private dining room that was closed off from the rest of the restaurant with large sliding glass doors, we were seated with two other couples and quickly served water and sake flights that came along with our class purchase. Our sushi chef Kham (General Manager) arrived and politely asked if we minded waiting a few minutes for a couple that had not arrived yet, he brought in a bottle of sake that he shared with us while waiting. Sam (our waitress) gathered our appetizer orders along with any other drinks from the wine/beer bar, as our drinks and snacks arrived Kham decided to move on without the missing couple and went ahead with passing out our sushi set up kits. Kham and Sam were very attentive and patient with all of us rookie chefs, we each made three rolls (Mexican, California, and Spicy Tuna) the quality of our food was definitely fresh and delicious! We all enjoyed our experience with making the sushi rolls, and shared one of the new up coming rolls (Midnight Unicorn) made by Kham, we will definitely come back and try some of the rolls on the menu along with any of the chefs picks. The class was slotted for two hours, My wife and I were the last couple to leave after enjoying our drinks and great conversation with each other and speaking more with Kham and Sam as they checked in on us. $200 per couple was a great value! See y’all really soon! Thanks again for letting us hang out!

Sushi class was excellent! Had so much fun! Can't wait till they hold the intermediate class. Would love to know a bit more about saki and maybe if there's a way to pair certain brands of saki with certain foods? Very enjoyable experience and excellent food as always.

The sushi class and sake tasting class was a less than desirable experience and I would not recommend to anyone due to the lack of professionalism, organization, timeliness, and overall experience. First, the initial booking required a $25 fee per person. There was no additional information stating the class was $75 per person and that there would be a 20% gratuity fee for the class. Nevertheless, the class total was $200 per couple. My husband and I booked the 8pm reservation for the 2 hour class on February 13th 2024. The reservation suggested for individuals to arrive at least 15 minutes before the reservation which we did. We were directed to sit at the bar until our class was set to begin. My husband and I were not seated for our class until 8:20pm. The server was unapologetic for experience starting 20 minutes over start time and blamed previous experience for late start. The server seemed rushed and disorganized and had to be reminded of guests needs. I would recommend having 2 servers for larger parties as it would have helped the class. We then ordered the sake and appetizers which arrived at 8:45pm. The sushi chef arrived at 9pm and we received our sushi kit ingredients. The ingredients did not seem fresh and the avocado was browning. The sushi chef did not interact with the guests and was just calling out the steps to complete the sushi rolls. The chef seemed burnt out and as he was just going through the motions. Once our sushi class ended we ordered deserts which arrived pretty late as well. The whole table had already paid their remaining bills and the last entree did not arrive till 9:45pm. The class was a waste of money and time and needs to be restructured better.
