Just completing its first year on the dining scene in Telluride, Kazahana offers classic Japanese cuisine prepared by Chef Naoki Takahashi and his team. Sourcing the freshest seafood from around the world, the menu includes sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, chirashi, tartar and ceviche, as well as a selection of salads and hot entrees. Beverage options include Japanese inspired cocktails, whiskey, beer, and a top notch selection of sake and wine. The 10-seat Omakase Bar features a 18 course chef's choice tasting menu with optional sake and wine pairings. Kazahana offers happy hour 5-6pm featuring sushi and rotating drink specials.

Omakase at Kazahana is an elegant and formal dining experience served in a beautiful space. Chef Naoki Takahashi will prepare 18+ courses using the finest seasonal ingredients available in the world. Omakase literally translates to "I leave it up to the Chef", so diners will not need place an order. Cocktails, fine wine and sake are available from your server at additional cost. Wine and Sake pairings designed by Beverage Director Colin O'Neill are also available. Reservations are available anytime from 5pm to 830pm for up to 6 guests. Omakase dining with Chef Nao will be an unforgettable dining experience.

Went there last night for my birthday dinner with high expectations, and every one of them was met! We sat at the bar for a more lively, interactive experience. Our server and chefs were friendly, and so easy to chat with. My wife and I both felt genuinely welcomed. The quality of the fish is top notch...all of it! Portions were perfect. Gyoza was the best I've ever had and the Mochi is a must! To top it all off, the manager brought me an unexpected complimentary treat with a birthday candle. It was delicious, but I more appreciated the kind gesture. It made my night. So glad we have a legit sushi place only an hour from where we live, and it's in our favorite little town of Telluride. going to make Kazahana a habit. Thank you to everyone there for a great evening and we hope to see you again soon.

Outrageously expensive, mediocre meal topped with bored, unenthusiastic service! Nigiri pieces were fine with good quality fish (uni was quite good). The sushi rolls (one of which was a special) were very bland & made with mushy rice! The miso cod (apparently a dish created by chef when he worked at Nobu) was again mushy with no contrast in texture. We have enjoyed sushi at some of the finest establishments around the globe (including the miso cod) and this unfortunately was a major disappointment……we won’t be returning anytime soon!!

I love sushi. But, sushi in the mountains, 9000’ elevation, about as far from the ocean as you can get? $200 (+ drinks) per person (for the omakase)? What could possibly go wrong? I admit, I was prepared for disappointment. Well, it was delicious. It was imaginative. It was visually striking. The progression, textures and proportions were carefully considered. The service was excellent. Good sake selection. The sushi chef is quite skilled - clearly a cut above. Friendly, too. An outstanding birthday dinner.

Kazahana is a gem. We’ve eaten there twice. The first was an omakase setting which was outstanding. Our second visit yesterday was in their general dining area. All menu items were available which is amazing for a remote location like Telluride. The chefs and staff are all consummately professional and friendly. Do not miss out on dining at Kazahana.
