I am not easily impressed, but I was with Kayao. The ambiance is modern and welcoming. All stuff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Our server Diana was on point answering all our questions, describing all little details of the dishes and providing great suggestions. Food was absolutely delicious, beautiful and colorful presentation. We ordered oysters that were very fresh with the mignonette that complimented the flavor. Mahi Mahi Ceviche was one of my favorite dishes, light and citrusy with crunchy cancha. Got to love the concha! Grilled Octopus was served with smashed potatoes and smoky sauce on the side that added so much flavor. The filet of classic lomo was cooked to perfection and was melting in the mouth. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Great selection of cocktails, both alcoholic and spirit free. And let's not forget about coffee, this must be the best espresso I had in town. Overall ten out of ten. I highly reccomend to visit this restaurant if you are foodie, love Peruvian food, looking for a sexy date night spot or any special occasion. Kayao officially ranks #1 restaurant in Chicago on my books! You guys have done an amazing job from greeting to sending a Thank You note via email. The little personal touch goes a long way. I cannot wait to be back and try the rest of the dishes on the menu. See you soon!

Our experience at Kayao was fantastic! The interior decor is incredibly well done and there was a lot of thought put into the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Drinks, service, and cuisine were phenomenal. We had the Ceviche Kayao as our appetizer and we shared the Pulpo Parrillero and Branzino for our entrees. The presentation and overall quality of the dishes were exquisite. Everything was cooked perfectly. I used a lot of superlatives in this review, but I really cannot say enough about Kayao. 100% recommend and we will definitely will be back. Lastly, they have only been open for about 3 months, the place was packed and ran like they had been open for years! Job well done!!!

Very small inside so be sure to make reservation ahead of time because of limited seating and be sure in your reservation you are picking indoor dining. Outdoors is just a removable patio. The service and Bartenders are TOP TIER in accommodating, explaining and drink making

Excellent food! Was pleasantly surprised. Service was impeccable. Will say it is overpriced for the portion of food provided.

The octopus was absolutely the star , however very small portions and elevated prices for the amount of food you get . Beautifully decorated and a cool vibe

Service is awful. Too-cool-to-be-bothered type servers. They tell you they can accommodate a food allergy then you get there and say they can’t. Food is mediocre. Not sure this chef is ready for Chicago level service expectations.
