In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

Excellent food! So fresh! Ample servings. Mexican shrimp cocktail had so many shrimp in it you could have it as a meal. Nachos were out of this world!

Great food and service. One of the best in Galveston! Used to be way too noisy, but acoustic tiles has greatly improved the noise level.

I was expecting a much nicer dining experience than was received. The restaurant was plain jane, super noisy and the food rather than exceptional was mediocre. It was definitely a one and done trip.

We were looking forward to this restaurant, based upon their menu. However, for a seafood restaurant, their oyster dishes were absolutely terrible. We had what were called stuffed oysters, which ended up being oysters drenched in liquid smoke and barbecue sauce; the crab meat was so obliterated by the sauce that I thought it was pork and not crab meat. We also ordered oysters Rockefeller, which were covered in a thick layer of gummy cheese; having grown up on the Gulf coast, we know what they should taste like, and these were horrible. The service was good; the server was very friendly. However, this was a subpar restaurant at best, and we would never go back

As always, the service and the meal was awesome!! Our waitress made a suggestion for the Chef's catch and it was delicious!!! Katie's is one of our favorite places to eat when we come to Galveston.

Great day! Thank you... Our birthday celebration was super thanks to great service, well prepared Oysters Rockefeller, shrimp oyster-fish poboy, and shrimp n grits. Delicious!
