In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

The shrimp cocktail and fried shrimp as well as the cocktails were great. Abby my server was fabulous. Food was out in a timely manner. The manager was awesome with the bad food. Things to NEVER ORDER here. 1 Appetizer- Snapper wings. Over cooked and way way trip much breading. 2. Main course - Baby back ribs - worst I have ever seen and the sauce is NOT even close to a BBQ sauce. (Not to owner, you are a seafood restaurant. If you choose to offer meat selections then do it right. 3. Sides - Steamed vegetables looked as though they’d been cooking for hours. Baby mush is how I wpuld describe it. 4. Sides - rice. Beyond soggy, overcooked, and like two day old mushy oatmeal. Not a place for vegans or vegetarians.

Really tasty meals of seafood. We had a table outside on the rear with view to the harbor and the sun going down ;-)

A cloudless day with a cool Gulf breeze on the deck. We drove down to celebrate my birthday with fried shrimp and hush puppies and they were delicious. When we got back to Houston, we had broken the all-time heat record for today with 99°. We should’ve stayed in Galveston!

Overall the food was pretty bland and tasteless and the coating on all the fried food seemed somewhat dark as in over fried

The food is fabulous. So fresh. It is so loud it is hard to talk. Prices are too high as well. We are retired and only splurge like this once in a while. If it wasn’t so loud it would have been much more enjoyable. Overall though we enjoyed it

My flounder sandwich was really yummy. My co-worker did not really enjoy the beer battered fish and shrimp. It was fried too hard and way too much batter. The waitress was nice and attentive however she had really dirty fingernails
