What is Peranakan cuisine?
Peranakan cuisine or Nyonya cuisine comes from the Peranakans, descendants of early Chinese migrants who settled in Penang, Malacca, Singapore and Indonesia, inter-marrying with local Malays. In Baba Malay, a female Peranakan is known as a nonya (also spelled nyonya), and a male Peranakan is known as a baba. The cuisine combines Chinese, Malay, Javanese, South Indian, and other influences.

The Peranakan cuisine embraces interracial, intercultural union which created the unique culture and cuisine known as Peranakan.

Delicious meal! Brought back memories of several visits to Malaysia. Good prices and ample.portions. Only regret is that appetizers were served just minutes ahead of the entrees. I will definitely return!!!

Food was incredible- very flavorful and large portions for the price. Service was good, attentive staff. Not super busy for a Tuesday night, but overall very cozy spot for some flavorful food.

Delicious meal for 6. We went family style. Roti canai is insanely good. Portions were massive, we had leftovers and a great luncheon the next day. Great drinks and yummy tea. Some things are a little pricier than expected. An extra roti I think was $4.50. But other things like entrees are super affordable

Everything was delicious! We loved the Rendang Beef and Singapore noodles. Perfect for a pre-show dinner at Steppenwolf. Will be back!

I walk by here pretty much every day and I was curious what it was. I'm so glad that I finally went in and tried it. We came in and were seated right away because there's so many seats and it's not that crowded. The food is amazing. There are so many options and you literally cannot go wrong anywhere. With influences from all over Southeast Asia, flavors are popping off. I had the Mee Goreng and my date had the Singaporean noodles. I got to try them both and would've been happy with either choice. The service could've been better but I'm not going to ding a star off because more people need to go here. It's a super convenient location for me and the food is so good and I don't want anything to happen to it.
