Since 1972, Kanki has been the Triangle’s favorite Japanese steakhouse and sushi house.
Located in West Durham on Mount Moriah Road, Kanki Durham serves up delicious hibachi lunches and dinners, sushi and much more.

Our Durham, NC Japanese restaurant is the only Kanki location with a To-Go number, and we make picking up take out orders fast and simple with designated parking spaces and an easily accessible “Take Out” door.

Kanki will only seat complete parties. Please have all your guests accounted for prior to seating. Incomplete parties must wait to be seated until all has arrived.

An 18% gratuity will be added to parties of 6 or more.

    We had a 6 pm reservation but were not seated until 6:50. Tables seated after ours had chefs appear before ours. It was 7:20 before the soup and salad arrived and those were all well finished before the chef arrived. The chef was fine, the server was very slow. We were billed for an appetizer that never appeared even though we had pointed out to the server that, since we were well into the entree round, the order should be cancelled and not billed. We have been there many times before and while it’s rarely speedy, this was particularly disappointing.

    The wait for a chef was extremely long. There were only three chef available for the entire evening. The restaurant was full and not equipped to accommodate the crowd and we suffered

    Amazing Experience at Kanki - A Must-Visit Japanese Hibachi and Sushi Restaurant!** I had the pleasure of dining at Kanki for the second time in the last month, and once again, it exceeded all my expectations! Both visits were absolutely fantastic, thanks to the excellent service and delicious food. The hibachi experience is a real treat. The chefs put on an entertaining show that makes the meal even more enjoyable. Tonight was a bit quieter compared to my previous visit, which gave it a different, yet equally delightful, atmosphere. The sushi at Kanki is simply the best I've ever had. The sushi chef's skill and creativity are unmatched. Every bite was a burst of fresh, exquisite flavors. Whether you're in the mood for hibachi or sushi, Kanki is the place to go. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a top-notch dining experience every time. I highly recommend Kanki to anyone looking for a memorable dining adventure!

    We had a party of 25. Our female server was absolutely phenomenal, however our male server was terrible. He never gave us refills, we kept asking for the bare minimal salt and pepper, he forgot to put our appetizers in and then he forgot to bring them to us. We received our appetizers in the middle of our meal. One half of our party was literally gone and checked out for 20 minutes before he even brought our checks. In which, we waited another 25 minutes to check out. We didn't ask for a discount, because we didn't want the lady server to be penalized. We paid our gratuity and tipped extra on her behalf. The restaurant was not crowded with guest either. He just didn't want to work.

    Our chef was very good, did a great job for the entertainment. But our Filet migon had a bad smell.
