We eat at Kankakee Grill every Monday. The hostess’s and bartenders are friendly and efficient especially Ryan and Scot. We have had the steak, shrimp and grits, ribs, fried green beans, nachos with barbequed pork , meat loaf, waffle sweet potato fries- all delish!

Well… once again, it wasn’t the best experience. Was very disappointed. We were out for our 5 year anniversary. We thought we’d go to New Buffalo to try something different. We arrive on time for our reservations, the hostess didn’t seem to know what she was doing. We were 3rd in line to be seated. There were hardly any people there. A manager comes to help seat people. He located our reservations, asked if we wanted a booth or table. I said we were supposed to be outside. He said we aren’t seating outside. I said ok, a booth is preferred but not under the air conditioning. We were sat under the air conditioner and it was freezing! We requested it be turned down. Waitress said she couldn’t do that. We decided on our order, to find out-no deviled eggs. Could not make chicken fried steak. I ordered a special drink and it was way tooooo sweet. Returned it no problem, she said she would remove it from the bill. But when we got the bill, it was still on there. I would say the worst part, was how cold we were. I never warmed up until we walked outside, I was so cold. Even my husband was cold and he’s never cold. Food was good. Our server was sweet. She was new and slow. (Understandable) it was not busy at all. We did joke with her when she asked if we needed anything. We asked for a blanket or hand warmers. When I ordered dessert, she had a different look, and I asked if they were out of that too. You were not out of it. So that was fine.

Waitress was awesome. Friendly and attentive to our needs. We normally eat at Cooper Rock when visiting Four Winds, but decided to try Kankakee Grill. Food was not at the same caliber, but very good for the price.

We love the Monday night Steak/Lobster dinner for $37.00. It is a small steak and small lobster tail served with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Delicious!

Service was terrible and dinner COLD. Seated quickly because we had a reservation but then took no less than 20 mins for our server Crystal, to show and take our order. Note - the restaurant was not at all crowded. Appetizer and soup were warm…not hot but we did not complain. We then waited over an hour for our main course. During that time, Crystal stop by our table twice to tell us our meal (we both ordered the filet which came with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes) would be out shortly. When our meal finally was delivered it was cold. Not warm. Not cool….COLD. Had to flag down Crystal to tell it was cold and made her check/test the food herself. She was so nonchalant about the problem ‘oh that’s too bad and you waited so long’. Really? That was the best she could come up with? Told her we were not paying for a cold dinner so she went to get her Supervisor who (took 5 mins to come to our table) rather than than covering our entire bill, said he took off the main course so we only had to pay for our appetizer, soup and soft drinks. What an insult to the service industry. Cannot comment on the food since we did not eat but certainly do not recommend eating based on the service, or lack there of, alone.
