Great location. Good service. Food was good, but not as good as either advertised or the price led one to believe. Chicken Satay - the salad was very fresh chicken was expertly prepared, but the satay sauce was like a hiughly watered down nothing tahini. It didn't have the umami of a strong peanut taste or the creamy texture one expects of a great satay sauce. The shrimp in the crab and shrimp curry was good, but the crab in the dish was non-existent. Green beans or some other vegetable in the curry or as a side would have turned this into a complete dish. The chef ruined what was an excellent crispy fried red snapper by dropping the perfectly cooked fish into a bowl of soy sauce based vegetable soup. The waiter, who was great, told us that it wasn't served the way he expected it to with a small amount of the sauce on vegetables on the side. No individual dish was terrible, but neither was one very good. Overall a disappointment. Might be back after we try all the other restaurants on the wharf first.

My first time here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was terrific, it was a beautiful night for sitting outside and our waiter was attentive without hovering.

Server was very attentive Dined at Kaliwa twice this week - first a party of 4 then an party of 5 Food was very uneven Some pretty good but some not good. Beef skewer was very tough Beef fried rice was very bland Due to inconsistency of the entrees / would not recommend this restaurant.

So much potential! Food was mediocre, vibe was nice, but the wait staff needs to be retrained. Had such potential to be a great evening until we sat down. First, when we checked in there were 5 employees hovered around host stand and initially thought 2 of them were actually customers until they asked if we had reservations. The hostess ended up asking if where we wanted to sit 4 times as if we would change our minds….or maybe she had short term memory issues? Second, the wait staff appeared just as clueless as the host/hostess staff. We were told that their cocktails were all premixed and tequila could NOT be traded out for gin because the cocktail was all already all mixed in a big bottle and just poured…but they had a fully stocked & staffed bar and could mix drinks? Also don’t ask for a spoon to help for portioning out food because you will have to ask and mime it 3 times only to receive 4 new sets of wrapped silverware that consists of a fork and knife. Third, the food was just ok granted 3 of us grew up on Asian cooking. We ordered the lumpia to start which had a slightly sour aftertaste that was enough to make you wonder if it was safe to eat. The meat skewers were quite decent as soon as we figured out that what we were told was pork was actually chicken. Next up came the grandma’s adobo which i understand have different ways to make it, unfortunately this one the group agreed had too much of a soy sauce undertone. Another dish we ordered was the pad thai and well all we could say was it was surprising (and not in a good way) to find rice noodles that you normally find in pad see ew invading out pad thai. Finally, we saved the best for last! The lobster fried rice. This was hands down our favorite dish. There were nice large pieces of lobster within the dish. Unfortunately the lack of intelligent service provided made this meal seem like such a task to complete.

Food was very meh. Crab and Shrip Curry was a bowl of soupy curry with three frozen shrimp and almost no crab. Mango salad dressing was bland. Best thing were the HH dumplings and drinks. Waiter was good and very attentive. The food is just not up to par for location and price. The entertainment was excellent and the restaurant is beautiful.

This was my first time at Kaliwa and I took a chance when I had friends in from out of town. The food was very good as were the creative cocktails. The decor is nice and the waitstaff was courteous. The food came out promptly. That said, it would have nice if they would have spread it out a bit since we were sharing everything. My biggest complaint was the volume of the live music. It was just too loud. We asked more than once if they would lower the volume but it remained too loud to have a conversation and we were seated pretty far from the musician.

Disappointing. Service was incredibly slow over an hour for any food to arrive and it arrived warm not hot. Presentation and quality of the food was also diminished from my prior visit. Something’s gone down hill.

We had a lovely time. The food was great. our waiter Andres was pleasant, charming and offered recommendations. The service was good and the atmosphere could not have been better.

Service was terrible. Didn’t get food for an hour. And the quality of the food was cold and under seasoned. The manager was a great but the damage was done and a place that was once one of my favorite restaurants on the wharf, I won’t visit again.
