Food was excellant and service also very good. The smaller size dining area is always a plus. Chef was willing to change my dinner from over rice to over noodles which was wonderful…..

If you’re looking for a fun place to eat in Kailua, you should definitely check out Kalapawai Cafe. The food is delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend trying the peach bruschetta, elote corn dip, and the fruit crisp. My mouth is watering just thinking about how good they were. You should definitely check out this local spot so you know what I’m talkin about.

As someone that visits this restaurant regularly, we highly recommend eating at this location in Kailua. The food is always delicious, and the service is amazing. (especially Chase who knows his wine selections well) It is obvious the kitchen staff takes pride in what they cook as it is always top notch. If you haven't visited this restaurant, I urge you to make a reservation and go in.

I wanted to give Kalapawai a one-star review... Just because I don't want it to become too popular and I can't get a table. ;-) Every time I visit Kalapawai I leave with a happy belly and the thought: "I need to come back and eat here more often." The food is excellent, beautifully prepared and delicious. The service is great, with attentive and friendly staff. And with food costs going through the roof in many restaurants, the menu prices are quite reasonable for what you get. Alcohol is a bit pricey, but they need to make a profit somewhere and I'd rather pay a premium for drinks and keep the food bill in check. Love that you can sit at your table and watch all the magic happening in the kitchen due to the open concept between dining and preparing. And the cooks in the kitchen are killin' it!

The service was outstanding from start to finish! Rocky was the best! The food was delicious as always, and so were the specialty drinks! Thank you Nick for the bubbly recommendation! Until the next time, which will be - I’m sure - very soon!

It’s one of our favorite spots, always good. Got to try the bacon date salad to die for. The fish was cooked perfect.
