Dine from our Bistro Menu for some lovely dishes at amazing value. 2 courses for £17 or 3 for £20. It’s available from 12 until 6:30 from Monday – Thursday and before 4pm on Fridays. We’ve worked hard with our chefs to strip things back and keep things really simple. It’s good, hearty, tasty stuff served to you by a team who love what they do. Third time at Kala and can’t fault anything. Food was outstanding. Crab cake and chicken liver parfait both great. Main courses were even better,feather blade of beef with rich unctuous gravy and delicious hand cooked chips, and the cod was equally excellent. Lemon suet pudding and the specials dessert were a real treat. Great value too and friendly unobtrusive service all made for a really enjoyable dinner. Will definitely be back.

We were seated quickly and given time to order drinks and settle in. The food arrived promptly and was perfect. All four diners were pleased with their food. Whilst full after starters and mains we chose to have dessert based on the quality of the first two courses. The wine and beer were good too. I enjoyed the black pudding starter and config duck main.

We (2) were going for the bistro menu, however really wanted the crab cake so went for the set dinner menu. Crab cakes were an excellent choice, the mains not as wowed by but nonetheless delicious (plaice & lion mane). Sides were extra and the carrots were amazing. We shared the divine lemon dessert. We had two glasses of alcohol each and the bill was pricey at over £140.00. When we booked I had stated it was for a birthday but I’m not sure what they do with that info. 2 courses for £43, exc any sides. Avg £8-11 per glass of alcohol. Service was excellent but it was also an extremely quiet night. I would recommend and like to go again, hopefully the toilet doors will open & close with ease by then. Very clever with the two types of menu, be interesting to see how many customers stick to bistro and which ones trade up like us.
