After 18 years of service at Shokudo Japanese Restaurant and Bar on Kapiolani boulevard, we are excited to announce the introduction of Kaimuki Shokudo on 11th avenue. You can expect the same Shokudo essence and hospitality paired with a new exciting concept featuring fresh soba along with other delicious Japanese specialties. We were very rushed by the server. She must have come by at least a half dozen times asking if we wanted more plates. They came too fast and furious and we couldn’t keep track of what was what. Not a relaxing experience for our table of 7. The food was excellent if you know what you are eating and have the time to savor it. We had been there previously as a couple and really enjoyed ourselves. So we reserved for a family birthday dinner. But I would not recommend this for a mixed group of adults aged mid 30s to mid 70s.

The food was so fresh and tasty. We especially enjoyed their garlic shoyu scallops and ika karrage. The service was excellent. We liked the atmosphere, especially the many hanging lanterns from the ceiling. A must do experience!

We three had a nice enjoyable experience for lunch on a Thursday after Christmas. Made 12:30 reservations via open table which was honored very easily and we were seated right away. Server was very nice and friendly. Atmosphere was pleasent. Good was very good. Only complaint is my beef curry came out around ten minutes before my two companions’ food arrived, tempura & hot soba noodles and duck watercress soba. I was polite and waited and it was long enough my food was no longer real hot. I would come back again but only special occasions. $20 for lunch with no drinks is not in expensive.

Began with the earliest available time of 9:45 pm but was called by the restaurant to let me know they close at 10:00pm and changed the time to 8:45. When arrived and seated at the table was told the kitchen was closing at 9:00 so rushed to place orders. They were out of several items. What we ate was delicious especially the Okinawan sweet potato salad and the scallops. They tried to accommodate the gluten-free needs of one of our diners. I would like to try the restaurant again at an earlier time.

Our favorite go to place. Food’s always delicious and servers are attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time at Shokudo. We celebrated my mom's birthday in a grand fashion. We are so happy that we chose to eat at Shokudo. The service was beyond excellent, with the constant attention to see if we were doing well and to fill our water glasses. The food. Oh the food was so very delicious. We peaked at the neighboring table and we order the same hot soba with tempura on the side. Super delicious. Along with this we had the mini sukiyaki. Also very delicious. And we ordered the unagi roll. My oh my was that good. And to top it off they surprised my mom with a birthday ice cream. It was a special lunch that we will remember fondly. And we will be back since we bought the 100 dollar gift card. Thank you so much to everyone at Shokudo for making my mom so happy. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Dana and Jeanne.

Service wasn’t the greatest today, had to ask for our server a few times to get some things we needed. Never came over to check in on us after food was dropped.

Their soba and tempura were EXCELLENT. We enjoyed the yuzu ice tea a lot, too bad there is no complimentary refills. The rice in their donburi is NOT good though. I got their spicy tuna don and my cousin got the ahi power bowl. We would have enjoyed these had the rice been good. But their sobas were delicious! I went back the following day for their sobas.

Very disappointing. First time at this location. Menu was so sparse and mostly soba which I am not partial to. No tofu! What kind of Japanese restaurant doesn't have tofu! Restaurant was dark and dingy looking, tables so small and too close together. The bathroom was dirty and not toilet seat covers. The sushi rolls were small but tasty. Tempura was good. Honey toast was good thankfully! Overall meh no need to eat here again when there are so many great Japanese places around town.
