Kahaani is the sort of venue where you could order butter chicken, but you probably shouldn't order butter chicken. No one's going to raise any eyebrows if you do, but you'd be missing out on some of the treasures that lie deeper into the menu.

Kahaani itself is classic Lygon: a long, narrow dining hall, with funky industrial lighting and exposed brick down one side. The front window opens out onto the street, letting the breeze and Lygon nightlife waft in.

Along with super expensive curries and breads the portion of starters was too small (for the price) and charged us $9 for a glass (not bottle) of sparkling water

What a great find. Everything you want in a restaurant. Service exceptional. Food presentation and taste was just so great. I would recommend this surprising restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food

The food is beautiful and so is the atmosphere. The serving sizes are extremely small given the price. I would say its worth the experience, but if you want to be full, expect to spend a fair bit.

Pan Indian cuisine is well represented in the menu, dishes are well presented and tickle the taste buds. Service was attentive and friendly and the overall experience met the high expectations.

Meal was excellent, really interesting, innovative Indian cooking. Loved the eggplant fritters, lamb chops, himachali chicken and the shahi tukda (bread pudding). Will definitely go again.
