Alexandria is celebrating its 275th Birthday and what better way to celebrate than with a front row seat to the fireworks at Jula's on the Potomac! Purchase a VIP waterfront balcony table to enjoy a four-hour table time from 6-10 pm complete with fireworks around 9 pm. In addition to our standard dinner menu, we are featuring a special three-course pre fixe dinner with wine and cocktail pairings. Visit our website, www.julasotp.com to view the menu. Please note, we cannot guarantee the City of Alexandria will put on the fireworks display. In the event of rain or severe weather, we reserve the right to move reservations inside or cancel. If we cancel, you will be provided a gift card in the amount of your non-refundable table purchase.

We love this place and come here often. Generally the service is great, however, this time the service was borderline “fair”—the waiter walked up and just looked at us and then said “-are you ready to order?” No greetings, drink orders, specials… and remained in the verge of rude the rest of the time. I guess the 20% tip inclusion leaves little incentive to even try to be engaging.

Great food and drinks! The views are amazing as well! Just moved to the area and was excited to try something new! I unfortunately had to wait over 15 minutes for someone to come take my drink order and by the then I already knew what I wanted to eat. Noise wasn’t terrible, but just keep in mind if you sit outside the airplanes fly right over the restaurant. But all in all it was a great place!

This was our second visit to Julia’s. The appetizers and entrées were all delicious, the ingredients obviously fresh and beautifully plated! Also recommend the creative cocktails! We were at the restaurant for dinner on a weeknight and parking on the nearby side streets was easy and plentiful.

Lovely ambience on patio with exception of planes ( which can’t be controlled!) thrilled that Julas now has full kitchen - cocktails delicious as were salmon and pasta.

My friend and I settled in for a delightful 4.5-hour lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Despite warnings about potentially subpar service, it was fantastic, and the food hit the spot. Plus, the river views? Breathtaking. Now, here’s where it gets juicy. Everything was going great until we hit a sour note with the owner over a lousy bottle of sparkling wine. We’re no amateurs when it comes to bubbles – whether it’s champagne, prosecco, or any sparkling wine, we know our stuff. This bottle smelled like a skunk and tasted like vinegar mixed with sour apple. Totally undrinkable. We returned the bottle with our charming waiter and ordered a rosé instead. Then, to our utter amazement, the owner herself marched over with the offending bottle, and our glasses still filled with the vile stuff. She proudly announced she’d tasted it and found it “just fine.” Seriously? Did she think we’d say, “Oh, well if you say so,” and chug the $90 bottle of spoiled swill? She even had the nerve to tell us she was a champagne connoisseur and hinted that we weren’t. Oh, honey, bless your heart. We’ve dined everywhere, from greasy spoons to Michelin-starred restaurants around the globe, and never, ever, have we been told to drink crap wine. Wine and champagne can turn with inadequate storage and temperature fluctuations. It’s not a big deal. We politely pushed back on the owner’s insistence that we drink the garbage wine, said no thank you, and kept our cool. Never let a restaurant owner bully you. That nonsense will ruin an otherwise great place. Cheers!

Thank you for sharing your kind words about the service, food, and breathtaking view! I apologize if our interaction regarding the bottle of sparkling wine was misconstrued. We take great pride in our wine list and go to great lengths to ensure our collection is properly stored and preserved. It is our policy to have a manager and/or beverage director (me) perform a taste test if a bottle of wine is sent back. This particular wine has been on our list over a year, and we are very familiar with the tasting notes and aroma and found it to be 100% on point. We returned to your table to let you know we tested the bottle and though it was perfectly ok we were happy to let you choose another option. I then asked my wine rep to taste the bottle and he concluded there was nothing wrong with it.

We had a lovely birthday dinner celebration for two of my friends at Jula’s last nigh! Sam, our server, was terrific! He was very polite, responsive, efficient and brought everything we needed asap! I arrived early to bring a birthday cake and candles to be held by the staff until dessert! Sam did a seamless job of lighting the candles and bringing out the cake at just the right time! My friends thoroughly enjoyed the surprise (and Sam also brought me the empty cake box so we could take what was left home.) I also appreciated the fact that we were not rushed in any way - either to order or to hurry up and finish our dinners. I think that goes a long way to make for an enjoyable dining experience! My only complaint was the $15 per person charge for bringing in our own dessert. I thought that was very high. But we highly recommend Jula’s and look forward to our next visit!!

I'm so happy to hear Sam provided exceptional service and made the birthday dinner extra memorable. Just a quick note, you mentioned our outside dessert fee is $15 per person, but it is actually only $5 per person, which includes us receiving, cutting, plating, serving and cleaning. Please review your check to ensure you were charged correctly.

This was our first time at this restaurant. But certainly it will not be the last. Annie was I server & she was exceptional! We were celebrating my 74 birthday & enjoyed every moment.
