"Judges restaurant and cocktail bar, formerly known as The Sun, is situated in the beautiful village of Northaw on the village green. This landmark Grade II listed building has, over many long months, been lovingly restored to its rightful glory. With a modern eclectic European and British menu, Carlos believes in sourcing local produce from artisan suppliers, where the provenance and quality of the foods are fully traceable. Whether you’re enjoying a glass of something sparkling under one of our chandeliers or having a scrumptious afternoon tea by the log fire, our bar and restaurant mix period features with modern day elegance, creating a memorable dining experience. Our cocktail bar and lounge areas are the perfect space for just popping by for an espresso martini or a light bite. As usual Carlos and his staff were lovely and welcoming. A good choice of menu for Sunday dining. Can’t fault this restaurant at all. Love it.

We were a group of 6 (three couples) celebrating three birthdays. I booked well in advance and specifically asked to sit inside the older section of the restaurant (not permanent marquee). They sat us at outer edge of marquee. When given menus we were left for less than five minutes and the waiter returned to tell us we need to hurry and order as there are a lot of people arriving - poor attitude - not an issue for us to deal with. When taking our orders the waiter made it very clear he was in a hurry, jumping to the next person before sauces or sides were ordered - poor service All starters arrived within minutes of order going to kitchen (effiicient?? or sitting on the side??) No one checked whether meals were okay or whether more drinks were needed. We had to wave a waiter down. Three of the six in the group were sick for 2-3 days They have lost 6 customers and I would NOT recommend.

I THINK YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD RESTAURANTS IS HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT JOB AND NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS THINKS IN LIFE IS BETTER THINKS TO WORRY ABOUT AND HAVE TIME FOR THE FAMILY !NO TO HAVE TIME TO WRITE THIS COMMENTS

This was a dinner for two and a late reservation. We asked for a private table and we did get a table in a small room where there were only two other tables. Unfortunately, it was right next to a party so laughter and music were loud in the next room with no door. Other than that, service was attentive and fast. Our chateau briand was succulent.

We was a table of 12 and noting was too much. All staff were brilliant and even good with our young children. It was a lovely evening and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back again.
