Boruwłaski, a Polish dwarf who found sanctuary in Durham.
Memoirs describe the Count as a skilled musician and guitarist,
travelling and performing concerts
for Europe’s elite during his life.
In his advancing years, Józef retired to Durham, residing on the banks of the River Wear alongside Durham
Cathedral, his burial place when he died in 1837.
An ornamental folly, locally known as ‘The Count’s House’ was part of Józef’s garden, still stands today.
The Count’s creative spirit is echoed in our lively atmosphere and eclectic
selection of drinks.

Poor choice on menu for lunch, sandwich or pizza? We expected a hot offer with a few choices and there were none.

You need to supply printed menus as default. Peering at my phone is a lousy substitute. Staff need training to understand basic requests.

I would never eat here again. The menu was terrible, very poor choice and the prices ridiculous. We had 8oz ribeye with approximately 6 frozen cooked chips, no steak sauces available. At least a third of the steak was not edible and it cost £30 yes you heard that right £30. Waited for drinks they didn’t arrive until the food came out.

Restaurant was lovely relaxed and quiet. Service was lovely. Even the service from bar staff was great. Food however was a different story. It was horrible. Vegan burger- stale bun and the chips, well the chips looked like the cheapest bag you get from super market that were then deep fried covered in oil then fried again to warm up. Not nice at all. Couldn't eat the chips, ate half the burger and that was because I hadn't ate all day and felt if I didn't try to eat I'd pass out. My partner got a burger also, marrow burger. Same again with the stale bun and strange chips. And the grease/fat all over my partners lips when he had a bite was unreal. Same again with his burger couldn't eat it. We spoke to a staff member and she agreed and admitted that the chips were poor and all depended which chef was in to how poor things were. Amazing hotel but I'd never eat in restaurant again I'd eat out or order in.

The customer service was great. The lady serving our table was really attentive and friendly. The food was not all that great, the main dishes were poor, in quality and portion size, however, the desserts were delicious.

Starter was leek and potato soup found this lacked taste. Mains was a burger for partner and chicken breast for me, partner disliked strange taste on chips and my chicken was cold. House wine not the best for £27

A wonderful experience for my 40th birthday. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic customer service! Stacey even gave me a birthday card and some complimentary fudge! Very impressed, would definitely return.

Table booked for 7 p.m. but shortage of staff meant we weren't shown to our table for over 5 minutes. However, staff were then made available and things improved. Radisson Blu assume that everybody can access the menu by scanning a QR code, rather than by reading paper menus, for which we had to ask.
