José brings a fresh, modern take on regional Mexican cuisine to Dallas’ beloved Lovers/Inwood neighborhood. Inspired by the brilliant and fast-paced culinary scene in Jalisco, the restaurant captures the serendipitous connections created when culture, food, tequila and art merge into one experience. Jose’s vibrant story comes to life at every table through its chef-driven plates, craft cocktails, the ceramics crafted by its renowned namesake, José Noe Suro of Ceramica Suro and the hand-drawn mural adorning the walls with scenes of Guadalajara and Tequila, which was a collaboration between Suro and Dallas-based designer and artist Megan Reinhardt. More than a restaurant, José is a community with authentically innovative Mexican food at its heart. Helmed by award-winning Chef Anastacia Quiñones-Pittman, José’s culinary program is seasonal, inspired and ever evolving.

Top-notch! The food was phenomenal and we owe it all to our server Brandon and of course, Chef! My husband and I were visiting from Florida and like to find local restaurants with good reviews. After learning, the Chef was a James Beard award winner. We were hooked! Restaurant is very cute and has lots of authentic history and pieces. When my husband asked our server, Brandon, who by the way is one of the best, how he could go about a sample of a lot of things, Brandon took the menus and said leave it to me. We will take care of you and they did… From the La Panga Tostada, Quesadilla Doradas, and this amazing salad made from goat cheese, arugula, fried okra, and peaches (OMG!) to the main course of Carlota, Baja Tacos, and Elote! The food was incredible, both beautiful in presentation and mouthwateringly delicious. The finale consisted of their amazing Chocolate Tres Leches! My husband does not like coffee but wow did we devour this dessert! Thank you, Victor for this amazing treat! Best of all, it was moderately priced and way worth every penny! We will definitely be back on future trips.

Our table had 2 types of enchiladas, pollo mole, redfish Veracruz, seasonal crudo, and the elote. Everything was delicious! Tried the dairy free espresso martini, skinny margaritas, and the smoked tequila old fashion. Not one thing disappointed anyone. Pleasantly surprised by how casual yet sophisticated this spot was. Our server was very pleasant and helpful as well!

The food was almost really good. It seemed to lack flavor. I ordered the langostino enchiladas and my husband ordered the short rib enchiladas. Both were okay but not delicious. I finally got some salt and it helped. Chips and red salsa were just okay; the green salsa was great. Our waitress was very good, but our entree plates came immediately after our cocktails did, so we were out of there in no time. Pretty rushed service.

The place is adorable and food was good. My frozen margarita was excellent. We were celebrating two birthdays and even though I put it in the reservation and told the server, we were charged for a dessert which didn’t seem very customer friendly.

We started with the ceviche, and the fish itself was quality but I thought the dish overall bland and really lacking the taste of lime and seasoning I want with ceviche. I had the park city enchiladas and the only thing that I can say was good was the sauce they used for that. Otherwise the tortillas tasted stale, and the plate overall was luke warm. Atmosphere was pleasant and the service was very good.
