José brings a fresh, modern take on regional Mexican cuisine to Dallas’ beloved Lovers/Inwood neighborhood. Inspired by the brilliant and fast-paced culinary scene in Jalisco, the restaurant captures the serendipitous connections created when culture, food, tequila and art merge into one experience. Jose’s vibrant story comes to life at every table through its chef-driven plates, craft cocktails, the ceramics crafted by its renowned namesake, José Noe Suro of Ceramica Suro and the hand-drawn mural adorning the walls with scenes of Guadalajara and Tequila, which was a collaboration between Suro and Dallas-based designer and artist Megan Reinhardt. More than a restaurant, José is a community with authentically innovative Mexican food at its heart. Helmed by award-winning Chef Anastacia Quiñones-Pittman, José’s culinary program is seasonal, inspired and ever evolving.

The margarita was great! I don’t usually go for margaritas, but this one was delicious. The flautas, while not the best I’ve had, were still really good, though the filling was a bit too mushy for my taste. The short rib enchiladas (minus the meat) came pretty close to a traditional enchilada, and the sauce really made the dish. My partner absolutely loved the pescadillas. The carajillo was one of the best I’ve had, though my favorite is still from a place in Mexico City. Lastly, the huitlacoche tacos were solid, with the corn tortillas being especially impressive. I often judge a place by its tortillas, and these didn’t disappoint. However, I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce, as it drowned out some of the experience to me. All in all, we’d definitely come back!

Jose is AMAZING. The quality of the food is so good and they offer such a wide variety of items. Service/Staff are fantastic and it’s really a delight to dine there. Highly recommend and will go again!

Great food, and great prices (especially during Happy Hour)! The service was awesome as well. I can't say enough about this restaurant- such a relaxing experience.

We went on our weekly date night and this place didn’t disappoint! We sat immediately after we arrived. We had reservations but on a Thursday evening, you could’ve easily walked in and got a table within a few mins or sat at the bar immediately. The food is really good when you crave something that has an authentic taste, drinks were creative and good and the value was what you should expect. The waitstaff was very friendly, attentive and explained the menu to us whenever we had questions. Their brunch is supposed to be even better so we’ll be back.

We were there for apps and cocktails. What a unique drink menu! Loved the coconut ceviche and ahi tuna crisps. We’ll be back next time we’re in town!

My husband went to Jose's for Sunday brunch at noon. It was quiet, and perhaps because of the holiday, it was relatively not crowded, though there were several families dining there. I didn't feel like having a boozy beverage, and so I opted for the cucumber mocktail, which was refreshing and not overly sweet. I had the carnitas with poblano hash and my husband had skirtsteak enchiladas with the most tender black beans I've ever tried. We will be back for sure.
