We're Jordyn's Soul Cafe, and we're an upscale soul food restaurant serving Chicago, IL, since 2022. There's no need to search for that perfect blend of soul food and fine dining because it's right here! We specialize in premium comfort food with a menu that includes everything from soul food classics to modern twists on those classics. Our owner created this restaurant to honor her late daughter and to serve Chicagoland areas delectable dishes inspired by her mother. The food was great and the atmosphere very nice. Our waitress was very polite and professional. I will definitely be a repeat customer and highly recommend this restaurant.

I recently dined at a restaurant that I had been eager to try, especially after hearing about its popularity and great food. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had hoped for. Our visit started on a promising note, as they managed to accommodate our last-minute reservation. However, the excitement quickly faded when we arrived and found ourselves waiting two minutes at the podium without any greeting. Eventually, a gentleman—presumably the manager—acknowledged us and led us to a high table, despite my initial request for a standard seat. This oversight was the first sign of poor attention to detail. Once seated, we faced another long wait before a server finally approached us. While he was friendly, we were disappointed to learn that the advertised alcoholic beverages were unavailable due to a lack of a liquor license. There was no mention of a BYOB policy when we received the menus, and we were surprised to discover that all drinks were bottled—no fountain options whatsoever. The experience took a further downturn when I had a question for a young busboy who was cleaning a nearby table. To my dismay, the manager intervened in a very condescending manner, reprimanding the young man for simply being helpful. It was uncomfortable to witness such disrespect towards an employee, especially when he had been polite and informative. As the evening progressed, we noticed that the atmosphere was quite lacking. The televisions near our table were either off or malfunctioning, leaving us feeling isolated from the lively ambiance we expected. To add to our frustration, another table that was seated after us received their drinks and appetizers promptly, while we continued to wait. When I tried to get the server's attention to inquire about our order, he responded with an attitude that mirrored the manager’s rudeness. We waited over an hour for food. They didnt have some of the items on the menu available. The services was mediocre. It took a minutes to get waited on.

The food is delicious and the portions are great! Our waiter Jathan was, personable, knowledgeable, and very accomodating. It took a little while for the food to come out but after I saw the quantity and tasted the quality of it I understood. If you must order just one thing, get the LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE!! OMG!!!! There were huge hunks of lobster in it! 10/10! I must go back soon!

The restaurant seemed to be understaffed. My guest and I sat down and waited for more than 20 minutes for our server to come to our table. In fact we had to flag down another staff member to find out who our server was going to be. The waitress came to our table and an appetizer was ordered. We waited almost 30 minutes for it to come out. When we complained, the waitress let us know she checked on our appetizer, however she failed to give us an update before we complained. About 20 minutes later our food arrives at our table. My guest's food was overcooked. My food was fine, but I was already disappointed because of the terrible service we received. Gratuity was included in the check, and that was a problem because the service definitely wasn't worth the added 20% gratuity. I will not go back to this restaurant!

Sadly you have to eat before you get here or you’ll be starving. I literally have a headache now!!!! Why does it take an hour just for a beverage and food? This restaurant has been short staffed ever since they opened SOMEBODY SEND THEM SOME HELP PLEASE! & when will they have there liquor license 2026 what’s taking so long? Seriously. The service here is horrible. You’ll be waiting until next year just for a meal that you’re going to spend $80-$100 on. They wasted a lot of my time and after constantly asking the staff what’s taking so long for my Salmon dinner & sides they brought me back dry macaroni and it’s tiny bones in the collard greens that you can choke off.

The food was great! However, service was terrible. The restaurant was not busy at all, but the waiter did not come back once to check on the table the entire time. There is an automatic 20% gratuity for a party of 2 or more, so they will get paid no matter how bad the service is.

This was my fourth time frequenting with family. Food is always fresh, hot and delicious. Unfortunately today was an off day with service. Our waitress was not pleasant the entire time. I’d never had this bad experience so hoping this was just an off day

Lots to be desired here. Started and ended with appetizers - the Mac and cheese yam roll was tasty but the presentation was lack luster the fried green tomatoes were terrible. They seemed like they were premade and reheated. I don’t need to go back. I did appreciate the heads up via email on the BYOB situation so was prepared for that!
