We're Jordyn's Soul Cafe, and we're an upscale soul food restaurant serving Chicago, IL, since 2022. There's no need to search for that perfect blend of soul food and fine dining because it's right here! We specialize in premium comfort food with a menu that includes everything from soul food classics to modern twists on those classics. Our owner created this restaurant to honor her late daughter and to serve Chicagoland areas delectable dishes inspired by her mother. Nice place, the fried green tomatoes were good alone with the dipping sauce. The smother turkey wing with cabbage and dressing. The turkey wing need more favor, the dressing was decent and the cabbage was ok. My husband had baked chicken ,dressing, plus sweet potatoes. He was it was all good! I would try something different next time.

0/10 Would not recommend. The entire experience felt like a cash grab. From the moment we walked in, we were asked to sit in the "waiting area," a smelly space with six chairs directly across from the bathrooms. My mother-in-law asked if the air conditioning could be turned up since it was over 90 degrees in Chicago and very hot inside. The response was simply, "the air is on." When we were finally seated, the table was empty—no cups, cutlery, or napkins. Despite the advertised alcohol menu and the visible full bar, it was BYOB until further notice, which was not mentioned on the website. None of the premade drinks like Soul-Aid and lemonade were prechilled. After sitting in the uncooled room for 15 minutes, the waitstaff took our order. I asked for ice water, which took a while to arrive. The food came out in a haphazard manner, with some main courses arriving alongside appetizers, and some items we ordered never arrived. The food was inconsistent; some dishes were good, but others were just mediocre, and the presentation was poor. My partner had to get up and ask for napkins at the bar as none were provided. No one checked on us to see if we needed anything, and we didn't receive cutlery until we asked for it after the first round of food was served. There is a mandatory 20% gratuity for parties of two or more. The servers never anticipated our needs and openly blamed the kitchen for our poor experience and missing items. The table was flimsy and wobbly, and the décor/theme was chaotic with red and black base tones and pastel faux flower installations. The focus should have been on better management, standards, and training in efficiency and hospitality. I had high hopes going in but left feeling used and cheated out of $180 for four people. There was never an apology or discount offered. We hope they take the time to improve their processes and overall experience. We won't be back.

How was my meal? What meal? How about me and my friend didn’t get the chance to order. Unfortunately I got to the restaurant earlier than my time reservation, they only had one waitress and a host. A group of family came in behind me. The host was all over the place that she addressed the family came in after me and had them sit in the waiting area. Then she said to me that she couldn’t seat me until my actual reservation. Which was fine. Then when it was time for the reservation, the host has two parties including myself and my friend. The place was hot with no air. Of course, can’t help the hot weather. However, me and my friend along with the other two parties were just sitting there and no one didn’t come over so me and my friend left and went to another restaurant. Unfortunately, I was looking forward to try Jordyn’s for the first time, but 1st impression was everything. The service was so terrible to the point that no orders were taken after we and other parties was seated for a period of time leaves a below sub-par service. Very disappointing. I may try the Grand location, but I feel like it’s not worth the drive.

I love black owned business. My first time experience here was underwhelming. It was one of the hottest summer days and it did not feel like the air was on. They were low staffed but staff was friendly. Good was 3 out of 5. The pot roast empanadas was the best thing I had. Oxtails, yams and dressing were just ok. They also didn’t have their liquor license yet so that was a point. However I do see this business getting better.

1st they take to go orders at the hosts stand which is at the door so people have to wait at the door for others to finish ordering even if you have reservations. They only had one waitress and also no alcohol like advertised. No air so it was very hot inside. It was byob which we were not aware of. Mac and cheese was undercooked (very watery) . Food was mediocre and we were sick next day. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.

We enjoyed our time there and the food was delicious. The wait was extremely long even though we had a reservation. We were seated pretty quickly but the wait for the food was long. It was Father’s Day so I’ll give them some grace. Will definitely be going back.

We arrive at reservation time 630pm and we were seated in the "waiting area" for about 10 minutes by the restroom. The high top table chairs were uncomfortable but okay. The wait between appetizers and drinks okay, but we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food. Then the waiter tells me the "Manager" will discount us 15%, well how is that a discount when by the time I get my food we didn't want to dine in. If you're serving soul food, and you have multiple selections on your menu you should be ready to support the orders in a timely manner. I was disappointed because it was Father's Day and I wanted to support the black owned restaurant. I don't know that we will ever go back after this experience.
