We're Jordyn's Soul Cafe, and we're an upscale soul food restaurant serving Chicago, IL, since 2022. There's no need to search for that perfect blend of soul food and fine dining because it's right here! We specialize in premium comfort food with a menu that includes everything from soul food classics to modern twists on those classics. Our owner created this restaurant to honor her late daughter and to serve Chicagoland areas delectable dishes inspired by her mother. Service was horrible. Never refilled our glasses of water, barely checked on us to see if we needed anything, and the food didn’t have much seasonings. I ordered the Steak and Lobster deal and was told that I would receive a Ribeye but the steak I received was not a Ribeye and the Lobster was extremely small. I had to ask for butter for the baby lobster and ask for a steak knife to cut the piece of meat with no flavor. That was my first time dining there and it will be my last!

The food was great. We ordered the shrimp tacos, deviled eggs, empanadas, fried catfish with dressing, yams, collard greens and Mac n cheese, oh and the oxtails. No complaints at all.

I was very pleased with my dining experience. Our server, Alexus was friendly and accommodating. We had the smothered pork chops and the fried catfish. Both meals were full of flavor and prepared to our satisfaction. I will definitely return and tell others to visit.

We were hopeful that our second visit to the restaurant would be more appealing than the first. Unfortunately that was not the case. It is important to note that the food did not disappoint. It is the short staffing, poor service , incorrect orders, and excessive wait times that remains at the forefront. We should not lower our expectations for local eateries. I will remain hopeful that some much need changes to operations and staffing will lead to prosperity and longevity in Hyde Park.

Ambiance was great, music was awesome, food was good. Server was nice. However, they were understaffed and out of several dishes to be early afternoon.
