We're Jordyn's Soul Cafe, and we're an upscale soul food restaurant serving Chicago, IL, since 2022. There's no need to search for that perfect blend of soul food and fine dining because it's right here! We specialize in premium comfort food with a menu that includes everything from soul food classics to modern twists on those classics. Our owner created this restaurant to honor her late daughter and to serve Chicagoland areas delectable dishes inspired by her mother. The service was terrible. Waited over 30 min to be seated with reservations and when asked about seat time was told kitchen is closing in 15 min. I asked can we sit at bar since there was no update on seat time. We ordered food closer to 845p after about 20 min staff came back and told us they were out of several food items so we had to chose other options. When we finally got snapper the food was dark , over fried you couldn’t eat it. There were no options of course to substitute due to.kitchen closed . My husband was so upset because he had not had anything to eat all day. He ate a few bites of my pasta however we still had to pay the bill for over cooked food which was over $125 . I had to ask 3 different servers for appetizer plates and utensils. I saw no manager to help resolve issues. The waitress offered 10% off since the food was not eatable . I Tried calling the next day voicemail kept coming on. I will email to see if there is anything that can be done regarding this experience. Nice decor however the service was so very bad. A lot of customer stated they waited over 1hr for food on yesterday which was Sunday 7/7/24

The food was great the service not so. Got to the restaurant on time had to wait 10 minutes to be seated at an open table. The server came 10 minutes later with water apologized for the delay however there were no forks and knives at the table. When asked they came with silver and plastic ware. Noticed the greeter just doing the bare minimum in regards to greeting. They were not guiding the wait staff or assisting the activity of carry out orders like most restaurants do.

Our waitresses was amazing very friendly Mrs Maure and Mrs Jordan they both are very intelligent young women and I as a black woman was very proud of those to educated women and hope Mrs Maure pass her state exam she will be a wonderful Registered Nurse we plan on returning soon

The food was very delicious, nice portion sizes. Nice and friendly staff, immaculate establishment, good ambiance. Did not get to try the drinks as they were not selling alcohol. $25 bottle fee for BYOB was a bit much since I would be bringing my own.

Seating issues arose, very cold, the best part was the waitress. Hostess was pushy. Food take a bit of time to come out and was even told not to reply on the text stating my food was ready. Said that that can be untrue and to just wait on a call… yikes.. why send notifications then?

This was my 2nd time attempting to support a local business. My first attempt, my reservation was cancelled the day before due to an unforeseen closure of the restaurant. No problem. I made a second reservation for Sunday 6/30 at 6:30pm, standard table. My friend arrived at 6:15 and checked us in, I arrived at 6:35. I approached the Hostess, she asked if I had a reservation, my answer was yes, she couldn’t locate it. I explained my friend standing right next to me checked us in at 6:15, she continued to look, and decided to seat us, no other conservations, or excuse me for the delay, just crickets. We were seated at our table for 20 minutes, nothing, we kept asking for our server, no show. Another 2 person party came in after we had been sitting at our table. A young lady, immediately brought them water, which prompted our inquiry into water and our server again. A young man working there was nice enough to try and get us waited on, We’re at 30 minutes now. He asked a waitress, if she could take our order. The waitress stated in front of us, she was getting off and she wasn’t our server. He talked her into it, she came to take our order explaining such, but she would help. Mind you there is an automatic 20% gratuity for parties of 2 or more. I guess she had already made her quota for the day. The horrible customer service prevented us from having a meal at Jordyn’s Hyde Park location. I gave the food 3 stars, I really don’t know, I never tasted the food or water. Bad Customer Service always ruins an experience. Do better Jordyn’s Hyde Park.

The service was horrible. I was seated, and had to ask several times for my server, as well as something to drink. The food came and was extremely HOT in temperature, to the point where I could not taste the actual flavor. No one came and checked on us to ask about service. The service was so bad that I immediately wanted to leave.
