Jolene x Tutto Wines: An Evening in the Beaujolais

An evening celebrating the hearty fare found in local bistros and the nearby bouchons of Lyon. Think cervelle de canut, rosette de lyon, celeriac and apple remoulade, salade lyonnaise, quenelles in shellfish sauce, steak frites and much, much more. There will be cheese, of course, and classics like baba au rhum for dessert. Nothing makes as much sense alongside robust cooking like this as a glass or two of Gamay and we have assembled a list of wines young and old from each of Tutto’s growers in the region, including Benoit Camus, Christian Ducroux and Romuald Valot, alongside some very special older vintages from the late, great, Julie Balagny.

Another absolutely lovely evening at Jolene! So pleased to live near this gem of a spot in Newington Green. Thank you to the the charming staff for welcoming us as regulars every time we visit (even if it's been ages). Can't wait to return!

The grill chef at Jolene turns out a superbly cooked onglet and the desserts are delicious

I started to text my friends and family to recommend the restaurant from the moment I tasted the appetiser. The meals are prepared to appeal to your five senses. Its appearance and smell make you like the food without even tasting it. Everyone was kind and professional, helping me choose the suitable dishes for me. I made another reservation for the next date I will be in London.

Honestly my favourite restaurant. Jolene just always gets everything right. Brilliant, interesting yet simple, seasonal menu, fantastic service, beautiful ambience, great wine list, delicious (!!) food. Love it. I like to come every season.

The ambience was lovely - had a buzz yet cozy and intimate. Food all tasted amazing! beautifully seasoned and good quality. Service was really disappointing. Not warm, welcoming or friendly like I would have hoped for (especially for a birthday dinner). I also noted the birthday on the reservation and called the restaurant before hand to mention this, but nothing was done for this. We got 3/4 dishes very quickly so when the final one was taking much longer I politely told the waiter we were waiting for one more (just to make sure they didn’t forget by mistake), but she just looked at us and said ‘i’m sure you are’ very bluntly and then walked away. This was quite upsetting. The food was great, but tarnished by the service we received. We were not made to feel welcomed, wanted or looked after. I honestly love the food at Jolene so it was really upsetting to have this kind of service. Not sure if something happened in the restaurant or this was an off night, but it was rather upsetting.

The vibe is nice and the food are really awesome. We ordered 4 dishes and a birthday cake for my wife's birthday. The Monkfish and Ox cheek were very impressive with a nice pairing with natural wine. The pre-ordered double chocolate cake was delicious and we really appreciated the dining experience.

We loved our dinner there last night. Every plate of food was faultless and the wine was delicious. A special mention for the scallops in cafe de Paris butter and the pumpkin ravioli with brown butter, hazelnuts, and crispy sage. The staff are all lovely—professional, knowledgeable, and thoughtful.
