The ambiance at Johnny’s is reminiscent of the classic supper clubs of the ‘40s and ‘50s, creatively blending the sophistication of the past with a modern edge.     We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and was immediately greeted and seated by Ms Avis. We had incredible service by Dakota, our waitress. Chef Walia came by to say hello and ensure we were enjoying our meal! I enjoyed the wedge with salmon add-on and David had his favorite medallions. We’ll return soon!

    Haven’t been there in a while because it went downhill. Gave it another chance and so glad we did. New menu items. But best news was MAVIS IS BACK. She makes the restaurant a must

    Although I understand that Valentines weekend is busy, I found that the staff gave very bad customer service. Even from the start, the hostess stated that she could not find our reservation. I showed it to her on my phone. They told us they would seat us, but that the delay was significantly long. I felt like they were discouraging us to dine there. We stated we understood it was a busy night. The waitress did not want to acknowledge us even though she kept passing our table. We had to stop her to come to us. We stated we wanted to order drinks. She did not want to take our order. She stated that the bar was very backed up. I told her, well then I should place the order now. She still kept telling me that she could not tell me when my drinks would come. I pleaded with to please go ahead and take the order. She hesitantly took the order. And again looked upset and reminded us that she did not know when it would come. I just had to leave at this point. I have never had to try to hard to even place an order for drinks.

    OpenTable doesn’t allow for as many characters as Google does, so I’ll just provide some highlights from my full review… -From the minute you walk in you’re greeted with the ambiance and decor of a low-end hotel’s in-house restaurant. As I swept the crumbs from the bench seat of the booth we were sat in, I couldn’t help but notice the cracked wine glass delicately placed next to the old USB, Ethernet, and outlet ports from when the restaurant was clearly the hotel’s business center. -Our starter was okay enough that we were slightly hopeful that things would turn around. But alas… our salads arrived eons later and they were mediocre at best. We didn’t even finish them, and I can only assume that the half-empty plates were left as some sort of punishment because we stared at them for nearly an hour. If you’re keeping track, we’re two hours into our dining experience at this point. -I wish I could say that the steak was so good that it made up for the service, but no. If someone whispered the word “salt” next to the meat while it was cooking it would have imparted more flavor than what we received. My medium rare request was also blatantly ignored as I received grey meat. -I “upgraded” my side to risotto, but instead received undercooked white rice with an overpowering amount of garlic and, what I can only assume to be, Kraft Parmesan cheese. -If you would like to spend over two hours, and nearly two-hundred dollars, on a meal equivalent to hospital food… I suggest you just go across the freeway and admit yourself to Memorial Hermann because the service and food will be better.

    Probably the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. When we arrived and were sat at our table, the seats and table was dirty from the previous guest. I had to wipe my seat before sitting down. Our server greeted us and asked if we wanted something to drink in which I replied with my order, my boyfriend went to the restroom and when he came back he ordered a beer, the beer came out 10 minutes later, and my drink was still nowhere to be found. 25 minutes later our server came over and said “I just went to our bartender and she’s all over the place it will be out shortly”. We then ordered a bottle of wine and got started on our courses, as it was Valentine’s Day. The wine came out 15 minutes later, after we started eating, and my cocktail was still nowhere to be found. The food was bland, the service was far from sub par, and we were rushed out of there towards the end of our visit. I asked if we could have 15 more minutes before dessert because I saw her watching our table and she was evidently annoyed, came back over 5 minutes later to say “my manager went under the table and sent your desserts in”. I was shocked because I wasn’t even halfway through my steak yet but agreed because I felt I didn’t have a choice, even though I voiced my wants well beforehand. Our dessert came and then immediately after, so did the check. We felt completely disrespected and rushed. Every 2 minutes on the dot (I was looking at the time on my phone every time) our server would come by and stand over us, expecting the check to have payment in it. I still wasn’t done eating my main entree! We finally put payment in and my boyfriend just wanted to leave as he felt uncomfortable and so did I, and she immediately grabbed it. As someone who also works in the service industry, I am appalled by the inner workings of this establishment and behavior of the staff that works there. Our bill also reflected the drink on it and I had to wave down a manager, she showed no care in my concern

    Went for the Valentines Day fixe prixe menu. Every single course was excellent. Seasonings, sauces, presesentation were all on point. The timing of the courses was perfect as well.
