Récemment voté « Best Steak » par le choix des lecteurs dans le magazine de Seattle, la maison du steak du restaurateur John Howie vous propose des steaks USDA de première qualité, du bœuf Wagyu américain et australien, ainsi que du bœuf japonais « A% 100 » Wagyu, des poissons et fruits de mer saisonniers frais du Pacifique, des champignons sauvages fourrés et des fruits et légumes provenant de producteurs locaux. John Howie Steak dispose de deux grills à bois : charbon de bois de mesquite et de pommier qui ajoutent des saveurs subtiles aux aliments. La carte des vins propose un "Best of Award of Excellence" de Wine Spectator. Just canceled Thanksgiving dinner for our whole family at JH based on our experience this weekend. 1) service- awkward, incorrect, and not fine dining. Sever kept calling my husband “boss” this is not a golf club. Told us we shouldn’t order steak MR but rather Medium as the chef recommended and was insistent. Insane. Served us a $25 9 -year whisky rather than the $350 22 year whiskey that was requested which makes sense why it was treated with zero deference and when asked for a pipette, we were given plastic cocktail straws. We asked a bewildered busser to get the wine steward because we didn’t trust the server to get the right bottle (rightfully we now realize. If the wine steward is a somm, I’d be shocked. She appeared a bit disheveled and actually pushed wine glasses wildly out of position on the table to make room, which is a s”wine service faux pas. I actually stopped watching so I can’t speak to how the plates were laid or picked up by other staff. 2) The food was fine. The truffle fries were cold. The bread was not kept on the table because no one liked it. Mostly hard breads and croutons. The Brussels were totally unbalanced with excessive vinegar. The “medium” steak came rare/medium rare. The corn was the highlight. The cherry bread pudding saved the day. 3) ambiance is lacking. Though the design and finishes are lovely the vibes are off and it’s giving hotel owned restaurant. I had the same feeling last visit a decade ago. It was a Sunday night and very slow which can account for that. Basically, it was a long time between visits and it will be a long time again. The staff is out of their depth and the place lacks an X factor. There is another storied steakhouse in Bellevue that still delivers top tier service and swank. I’ll stick with them.

I have spoken with your server and our dining room manager who will follow up with other service members from that evening. I hope you spoke with a manager during service? We pride ourselves on creating an exceptional dining environment and never want a guest or guests to leave unsatisfied. It seems that we failed in the executive of your dining experience. We will use your review as a training tool for the staff. It’s from our valued guests’ feedback that makes us strive for continuous improvement. Visited on a Monday for a birthday with a group of 10. We only ordered one appetizer and didn’t order dessert. Dinner took 3 hours. Service was super slow. Potato purée was lumpy and not creamy. Felt like they took mashed potatoes and tried to purée them quickly. Steaks were on point.

Had a great meal as usual and we are always treated very well when dining at John Howie. We tried some different items on the menu this time and were very happy with our selections. Bananas Fosters is always a must too!

John Howie was previous the best steak experience I have ever had. Service is excellent, selection is expansive and the tiny touches such as the salt tray and tableside presentations are great. Tonight we celebrated my anniversary and I was underwhelmed by the food preparation in several of our dishes. The bone marrow was overcooked, topped with a ton of citrus and burnt bread crumbs- this was the worst bone marrow I have ever tried (I have tried many). The Caesar came without anchovies being offered which left a salt gap we were able to solve with the generous salt tray provided. We ordered truffle fries which were served at room temperature. When I shared this they graciously removed the charge but I was bummed because I had been bragging about how good they were to my girlfriend. Our second side, fried Brussels, was so burnt as to be inedible. I don’t like complaining about multiple dishes so I left it be. We ordered the Waygu sampler which was VERY good, cooked to perfection. The bananas foster and flourless chocolate cake were also excellent as were all of our cocktails. This is why I gave the overall experience a 4 when the food was a 3. I expect more out of a nearly $700 meal.
