Joe’s Crab Shack offers a variety of favorites from all parts of the sea and shore. From its extensive menu, guests can choose from buckets of seasonal seafood, fried shrimp platters and fish dishes, as well as options from the “mainland” that include steak, sandwiches, and chicken. Guests can indulge in over-sized and creative cocktails, such as the Shark Bite which is playfully garnished with a shark toy. Since its inception, Joe’s popularity has stemmed not only from its menu, but also its retail store. With various pieces of merchandise for purchase, including the ever-popular tie-dye T-shirt with the phrase “Peace, Love and Crabs,” Joe’s has become synonymous with the word “fun.”

We went here for NYE . The restaurant is poorly managed. The entire place was in chaos. The food was terrible, the staff tired to be apologetic, but nobody can apologize enough for food that shows up 2 hours later and it’s not made properly. Most of the food was burned and tasteless. The entire kitchen staff, all 3 of them looked chaotic. I will be surprised if the place is still in business a year from now. Sacramento has just lost its appeal to families who want to have a nice evening out, we have to go to Roseville or Folsom to have better food experience.

We entered Joes and asked to put our name on the list to which the host (male, bald) laughed and dismissed us. He stated they are only taking reservations due to being NYE. Not a problem if they've changed things to reservation only as all the years prior we just come a couple hours early and put our name in. However it costs nothing to be kind to customers instead of dismissive and rude. We exited the restaurant, got on the app and got a reservation immediately. The guy scrambled when we came back in. Additionally, my husband got violently ill later in the evening. He's the only one who had the East Coast Platter. The food was very mediocre for the price. The only positive to our experience was our server Jennifer was amazing. Sadly we will be finding a new spot for our NYE tradition.

4 of us went for lunch. My son said his burger was just ok. I got the pasta with shrimp and crab it was very good. Other st the table got nachos with crab they were very good. And the 4th meal was the Generals plate. They said it was good but not great. It seemed like there was only one server running around all by himself. Some how he managed to take care of everyone in the restaurant. We had to wait just a bit longer for things but we understood because they looked short staffed or didn’t plan well for the holiday week of Christmas to New Years.

Absolutely terrible. Took 45 min to get our food but everyone around us got theirs so it was hard to believe that the kitchen was running behind. I think we were forgotten. We were never asked if we wanted refills. When our food came, we had no forks to eat so we asked our waiter and he brought back crab tools, but no fork or knife to eat a steak with. Then we ended up just going to ask a different waiter to give us some. The food was not good at all. The steak was an edible. But the clam chowder to start was very nice.

Busy night. Food and drinks delayed and came out at different times for guests. Overall ok for a Christmas dinner

We arrived for our 5pm reservation and were told we were checked in and to sit and wait. We saw at least 4 other parties sat immediately. At 15 minutes I looked at my phone and saw a message asking if I was on my way. I went to the desk but there was no one to help me. A waitress was helping another customer and I asked her what I should do. She sat us at a table b a door to a enclosed patio. The waitress greeted us and brought us water and asked about drinks. we were not provided a drink menu. She got us one and said that she would give us a few mintues. We ordered both food and drinks when she came back. It took a half and hour to get our drinks! I could see the bar so I know our waitress went to ask for them and the bar tender finally got them. We ordered a few more drinks later and our waitress had to go to the bar tender to get them. Food took a long time too. We will probably not return.

No nonsense. just sit down, put on your bib, and dig right in. Ambience is Informal and casual with a great view of the bridge and the River. Food is excellent.

Marcus was a fabulous server! Very attentive. Food was great. A wonderful Christmas meal.

Server was friendly but forgetful. We reserved a table at 3pm (not busy whatsoever) and after a quick order of drinks and food, it took about 45 min for us to receive our food. The food itself was luke warm and no longer in the iconic steam pots. The oil and butter had congealed and the quality did not seem nearly as good as in previous years. This is an annual event for me and my family and ownership may have changed since last year (seems like a typical cause for such a drastic decline) but I was severely disappointed. Thanks for the good memories Joe’s Crab Shack, we will be finding a new seafood spot for our Christmas tradition!
